Fitness, Restaurant, HS Internet, Business Center. No Spa showing, thought it might be the Intercontinental.

Booked two rooms, put in 2 adults only, and had an offer for $95, put in 2 adults and 2 kids (for each room), offer went to $99. Bought it, it was the James. We are happy with any 4.5* for less than $100.

HotelHotel rate per night - $99.00

2Rooms/2 Nights SubTotal:$396.00

Tax recovery charges and fees:$65.10

TotalPrice:$461.10

Congratulations on your success!

While the Intercontinental is a really neat historic property, the James is also a wonderful, more modern boutique property and this is a truly terrific deal for this hotel.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.

Enjoy your stay.

I always use BB site to begin our purchases, it is a great site.

Also JB, I see that you have made some recommendations on restaurants around this area, could you remind me which places to check out. There are 4 adults and 4 kids ranging from 3rd grade to college.

Thanks!!!

Depends on what you are looking for in terms of cuisine/price/atmosphere. Certainly no shortage of restaurants in the vicinity, especially to the West in the River North area.

You mentioned a market in a post, I can't find that post.

Fox and Obel Market and Cafe (fox-obel.com), which is about a 7-8 minute walk from the James, on the corner of McClurg and Illinois. Very nice walk from the hotel. Fox and Obel is a gourmet market and there's a really nice cafe in the back, which I think offers some terrific options for breakfast/lunch/dinner. While the market is on the pricey side, it's a really fun place to browse around after a meal in the cafe. It's sort of a Chicago version of NYC's Dean and Deluca.
