4Stroke Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 Here's the details of my recent Key West stay:Booked through PRICELINE last-minute. Took 3 attempts. Only one bidding zone, so I played with star level and price point.Bid 1: 3-Star, $70 bid, rejected.Bid 2: 3 & 2.5 star, $75, rejected.Bid 3: 2 star, $70, WON.it awarded me the TRAVELODGE & SUITES BAYSIDE KEY WEST.Pros: - Free WiFi in rooms - Free continental breakfast - Nice pool, deck and Jacuzzi all outdoors. Tiki bar (only open Fri-Sun 4pm-7pm) - Public transit buses stop right outside hotel, so convenient if using them to travel the town.Cons: - Rooms small & outdated: old furniture & TV. Tub/shower had a weak water flow. - Queen bed was ok, but sheets were old. Clean, but old. - Location: Hotel is in newtown, a $14 cab ride into old town (Duval St.). - Suites look towards front of hotel, overlooking pool & ocean (nice!) ; but standard rooms are rear-facing, with small windows (no view).Overall, a good stay for $70/night. Cheers,4Stroke.
