SuntanD Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I was able to get a post-cruise hotel, Sheraton Downtown about a month ago and have been trying every 72 hours since for my pre-cruise April 16th. I am up to $55. with no success. Got the Sheraton Biscayne-Bay for $54. Should I keep going on with this as it is still months away, or would you suggest a different strategy? Increase the bid more? Stay where I'm at and keep bidding? I guess my question is - when should I start to worry and have something booked by?Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
mudley Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 I had to bid $66 to get the sheraton 4/8/05. I hear it is going to be torn down in july and I'm not sure how well it is being maintained.
thereuare Posted December 22, 2004 Report Posted December 22, 2004 They Hyatt is currently sold-out for your date so that immediately removes one possibility. However, rates at the Sheraton don't appear too high and i think that being pateint with this will pay off (although i would be bidding once per week and not every 72 hours as your likley to only get frustrated... if you haven't reached that point already :) )If you won't relax without having this taken care of HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Sheraton for $80/nite.If you don't go with Hotwire now i would book yourself a cancellable back-up just to protect yourself.Keep us updated as to your progress and let us know how we can be of further help. SuntanD Posted January 3, 2005 Author Report Posted January 3, 2005 Took your advice and wasn't so anxious on the constant bidding, but just tried tonight and got the Hyatt Regency Miami on my first bid of $52.00. Didn't even have to re-bid. They must have opened up some rooms for my date of April 16th, as it was completely sold out previously.Again, thanks for your support and direction."D"
SuntanD Posted January 3, 2005 Author Report Posted January 3, 2005 First attempt with no re-bids and was able to get the Hyatt Regency Miami downtown for a bid of $52.00 for April 16th, 2005 for our pre-cruise.
