WyattEarp Posted December 3, 2009 Report Share Posted December 3, 2009 With the help of this forum and Hotwire, we booked the lovely boutique 4* Hotel El Convento in Old San Juan for $99 ($132 if you include all the taxes and fees) on 12/2/09. It appears many PR hotels with waterfront or beach access tack on a hefty resort fee to all bookings whether it be their own website, Expedia, Orbitz, Hotwire, etc. El Convento has an agreement with some nice beachfront hotels to allow their guests to use facilities on Condado beach and/or Isla Verde beach. Hotwire Amenities: Boutique Hotel, Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access Note: In order to support this website, we did use the link provided here to get to the Hotwire site.I am so glad we found this website. We are staying at the La Concha using Marriott points and only needed a room for two midweek nights before Christmas. I think it is very slow before Christmas and it is also midweek so why should we pay the generally preferred weekend rates. We also really wanted to stay in Old San Juan for a few nights. Hotwire does not narrow down the San Juan region into Isla Verde, Condado/Ocean Park and Old San Juan. This website/forum gave us the insight we needed. Mucho Gracias! Link to comment
