djrh Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Hi,I need your advice on London bid for Dec 31 to Jan 03. Looking into 4*+ for around $100. Does not necessarily have to be the city center, but it should be easy to get to the attractions. The neighborhood should be nice (don't want to end up in a ghetto :) ). I've only been downtown London and am not familiar with the neighborhoods. As I've always done, I will be using the link :)Thanks
yellowdog Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 I need your advice on London bid for Dec 31 to Jan 03. Looking into 4*+ for around $100.My guess would be that this is not doable. What is your max budgett/night. Does not necessarily have to be the city center, but it should be easy to get to the attractions. The board need to know the zone(s) you're willing to stay in. Please look at the PRICELINE maps to determ your zones.Just post if you have any further questions.Yellowdog.
djrh Posted December 3, 2009 Author Report Posted December 3, 2009 That's the point. I am not familiar with London (apart City Center), so I was wondering which zone to go for? I am looking for a nice neighborhood (maybe a business district ???). I want it to be safe and neat. We will probably go out only one day and stay for the rest of the time in the hotel. My budget is max $100/night before tax.I am thinking of LHR since it seems that 4* are going for 50-60 around these dates. What are your thoughts?
thereuare Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 The most freqently bid zones:Bloomsbury - Marble ArchKensington-Earls Court - KnightbridgeMayfair - SohoRegents Park - Baker Street (sometimes)HOWEVER, you should check to see how convenient these are (train lines and such) to the sights you'd like to see.Your budget may also be a little difficult given the New Year's Even holiday... is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?I don't think most recommend staying by the airport if you intend to go to 'the city'.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. djrh Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 Thanks, but my plans got canceled :) staying home for New years' :)However, I will be going either in Rome or Barcelona (Air France has a sale from Canada, round trip is $600 tax in :o ). The dates are roughly Feb 12 to Feb 15. Which would be a better bet in terms of getting a hotel deal? I have the feeling Barcelona will come out way cheaper for a 4*+.What do you think? I have to decide by Monday, sales ends Dec 7.Gracias :)
