Could you please tell me what to bid for a 4* in Ft Lauderdale Beach Area? I'm looking to stay there from January 12-19th. Also if you could tell me what to bid for a car rental. I've used Priceline before but never Hotwire. I think the hotels are better on Priceline, am I wrong?

Thank you!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

I wouldn't necessarily say that PRICELINE hotels are 'better' as most hotels participate with both services. PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE, but HOTWIRE is good if there is a certain amenity you'd like the hotel to have (since you can know beforehand based upon the amenities shown), require more than double occupancy, or if you'd like to take educated guess as to what you may receive. For additional info on the similarities and differences between each service see the related I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire thread.

if you'd like help with a bidding strategy for this stay let us know your maximum bid and we'll advise accordingly.

I would like help with a bidding strategy. I would like to pay $75 for a 4* in Ft Lauderdale but don't know if that is unrealistic. I am willing to go up to $100.00. I'd like to book Ft Lauderdale from Jan 12 - 16 and then 16-19 in Miami. 4* for Miami both near the beach and my budget is the same for Miami.

Thank you

In terms of being near the beach, are you looking to be right near the beach? If so, I'd suggest searching on HOTWIRE for a property with a "beachfront" or "near beach" icon. Otherwise, when using PRICELINE, there's no guarantee that the hotel may be right near the beach.

Please post a separate thread for your Miami stay. Thanks. :)

I would like to stay in Ft Lauderdale near the beach. There aren't many 4* available. I believe there are only 3 hotels on both Priceline and Hotwire. What do you suggest I bid on Priceline for a 4* Jan 12 - 16?

If $75 is your max are you in trouble. Inventory is slim and very expensive. HOTWIRE got a 4* "beach" hotel at $109.

If you want to go with PRICELINE so start at $65 and work your way up. And you should know that if you bid at 4* beach zone is Hyatt Pier 66 among the hotels. That is not a beach hotel.

Yellowdog.

I was looking to stay near the beach and near sawgrass mills. I'm not sure of the area or where Hollywood Beach is. What do you recommend? I could go up to $110 but I haven't seen any winning bids for 4* in Ft Lauderdale beach area. Could it be we're too far away from the date of travel?

The date is pretty close in terms of booking a hotel; these dates appear busy, with prices in this area above normal. I'm not familiar with the geography of the area, but Hollywood Beach appears to be a bit of a ways to the South of Ft Lauderdale Beach.

My girlfriend wants to be near the beach in Ft Lauderdale and refuses to pay more than $100/night. What would be your bidding strategy for a 4* in Ft Lauderdale?

Do you know the list of 4* in Hollywood? Could you suggest bidding for that also?

Could you please tell me which hotel this could be?

Please keep all posts regarding this stay in this thread. Thanks. :)

This could be either the Westin Diplomat or Crowne Plaza Sian Resort, although I'd guess the Westin is more likely.

You can see all hotels reported to the board in the respective Priceline Hotel List and Hotwire Hotel List... please look at the hotel list, as well as our Priceline Maps to determine if only one, or both, of these zones will work for your needs (as the strategy will differ if only bidding one or both zones)

My girlfriend wants to be near the beach in Ft Lauderdale and refuses to pay more than $100/night.
And if you win the Hyatt Pier 66, which is in the Ft Lauderdale Beach zone, but NOT on the beach? :)

As per the Hotwire Hotel List linked above, the HOTWIRE property above is a match for both the Crowne Plaza Sian Resort and the Westin Diplomat, so either of these would be my best guess for this one.

I've spent many hours this weekend looking thru the winning bids. :) I was up to $80 for Hollywood 4* and 105 for Ft Lauderdale Beach area 4*. I know the Hyatt isn't directly on the beach but it's close to it.

Do you think the price on HOTWIRE will go up as we get closer to January? There are no more hotels in Ft Lauderdale Beach offered on HOTWIRE.

I've seen winning bids advertised on PRICELINE, they are quoting 79 for Hollywood and 97 for Ft Lauderdale. Have you seen any recent bids?

Nbody can say... see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ re: "bid early or late".

Either enter "Lauderdale" (without the quotes) in the QUICK SEARCH box in the blue banner at the top of the board (also try "Lauderdale Beach") OR

view the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins in and around your dates.
