jackywhatever Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 i was trying to find a 3.5-4.5 star establishment in Miami for 5 (2 rooms or 1 apartment/suite if large enough)Dec 25-Dec 29My mom love the idea to live in a family-style room, but it can be expensive.I thought of staying near Coral Gables too, but Westin Colonnade is no longer offering cheap rooms through Priceline (at least no more $6x offers..)any nice hotel that you know of? I will drive to Miami and I won't spent too much time in the downtown of Miami so areas close to MIA is fine too.Any suggestion? Appreciate it.
AaronJB Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Good evening. :)What would be your budget per night? How many adults/kids in the party? HOTWIRE would be a better option for these dates, as PRICELINE does not guarantee 2 beds. Additionally, coupon code FABSAVE10 takes 10% off per night off many hotels on Orbitz.com.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or Orbitz.com links to start your purchase.
jackywhatever Posted December 2, 2009 Author Report Posted December 2, 2009 thanks for your info. we are a party of 5.I don't have a specific Budget, probably $100 for regular rooms, but can be at $150 for beach/seaview/boutique... can be more if required but i am more into great deals :)thanks!
thereuare Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Searching HOTWIRE for 2rooms/5adults shows a 4* hotel in the Airport zone for ~$96 for which my best guess would be the Inter-Continental West (at 2505 NW 87th Ave), as well as a 4* hotel in the Downtown zone for $107 which matches previous reports for both the Inter-Continental (different than the one just mentioned previously) and the Hyatt... are either of these of interest, or did you want to try PRICELINE for a better price (and accept the risk that you may receive room(s) with only one bed each? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know your thoughts and we'll take it from there (and further expand on each of the HOTWIRE hotels above if either is of interest) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jackywhatever Posted December 2, 2009 Author Report Posted December 2, 2009 Searching HOTWIRE for 2rooms/5adults shows a 4* hotel in the Airport zone for ~$96 for which my best guess would be the Inter-Continental West ....Thanks for your reply! It's been very helpful in organizing my thoughts.I have no experience in living in a airport hotel. Can air plane noise be a potential problem?I will be driving there so Free parking / low-cost parking is a plusRoom comfort is our biggest concern, I don't mind staying in Garden Inn type of thing if they have gorgeous roomsWhich area do you suggest me to stay in? is Coral Gables or MIA area a nice alternative to downtown? Is driving to downtown during Christmas a pain? how bad the traffic is in Miami in general?
AaronJB Posted December 3, 2009 Report Posted December 3, 2009 Most higher-end airport properties (although there are certainly going to be some exceptions) have fine soundproofing or are far enough away from the airport as to not cause noise issues. The tripadvisor.com reviews for the property may indicate whether noise is an issue or not.I'm not familiar with Miami, so hopefully another poster can discuss areas/traffic.Thank you for using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.
thereuare Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 What is the purpose of this trip... what do you intend to do and where do you intend to go during this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jackywhatever Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 I am including some updates from what I have found online. Now I am quite into these propertiesIntercontinental West MIA 4* $96Hilton downtown 3* $56where Intercontinental West seemed to be higher ranked on tripadvisor, and seemed to offer free valet parkingI am also aware of Conrad Miami has 2 bed-room suite. I sent an email to them for price and availability.Homewood Suites at MIA has also 2 bed-room suites. very reasonably priced.Meanwhile do you have any suggestion for me?thanks!
thereuare Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 I'm not following... are the rates for the hotels above thru HOTWIRE or thru some other source? Are these hotels offered on your dates of travel or have you simply seen them won by others for dates other than your own? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jackywhatever Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 these are HOTWIRE rates, and identified. didn't see people winning on these hotels though
AaronJB Posted December 6, 2009 Report Posted December 6, 2009 Are the HOTWIRE rates/hotels of interest? If you are interested in a regular rate property (if you are looking for a suite or upgraded room), coupon codes WELCOME10 or FABSAVE10 should take 10% off per night on Orbitz.com.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links to start your purchase.
jackywhatever Posted December 8, 2009 Author Report Posted December 8, 2009 i finalized my booking on Orbitz with the coupon. ended up with a 2bed rm suite with Homewood Suites MIA west. Newly opened in November and seems to have very good comments on tripadvisor.4 nights $800 all in. pretty good deal.Thanks.right now I am more into car rental problem.I am having trouble with car rental but unfortunately since it's a one-way rental, PRICELINE and HOTWIRE do not offer deals on this situation.I need a large SUV or minivan from RDU to MIA, Dec 19-29, for 5 people and 5 luggages, low cost desired. Please comment.
AaronJB Posted December 9, 2009 Report Posted December 9, 2009 Thank you for using the site's Orbitz.com link to start your purchase, and glad you are pleased with the Orbitz.com deal. Please start a new thread in the CAR RENTAL section of the board and we will be happy to help you there. Thanks. :)
