Latitudes Posted January 1, 2005 Report Posted January 1, 2005 First Attempt: 12/24/2004Bid 1: SFO for $25.Bid 2: Added Civic for $26.Second Attempt: 1/1/2005Bid 1: SFO for $27 - was offered a free rebid of a $7 minimum, which would have made the bid $34. Ignored.Bid 2: Added Civic for $28.Q: I see that zbenye was successful for 3* SFO at $34. Should I have just taken the $34 free rebid? Will try again in three days.Third Attempt: TBAWatch this space.
fly_up_front Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 I think the sub-$30 wins in this zone are a thing of the past. Was nice while it lasted in 2003.If you wanted to re-bid for a 3* in the low $30s, I think you can safely add any downtown zone.
thereuare Posted January 2, 2005 Report Posted January 2, 2005 With time on your side i would wait the 72 hours.Perhaps the chances of success in the downtown zone at that price are nil, but why even exposure yourself the the possibility of getting a zone you don't want if you have a few weeks before your stay? (but as you can see, i'm fairly conservative)Just my .02 Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Latitudes Posted January 2, 2005 Author Report Posted January 2, 2005 Thanks for your replies guys,I will wait the 72 hours rather than rebid downtown. My flight to the east coast the next morning is an early one, which is why I chose to stay close to SFO Airport. If I were staying downtown I'd have to get going that much earlier; I like my sleep more than an early morning shuttle. :) I'll probably bid $34 straight off next time...

thereuare Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Glad you were successful and saved the extra $2. However, if you want to bring the percent of taxes and fees down you could have started at $34 :) Enjoy your stay.
