Sydney_travel Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 This will be my first trip to Sydney. I didn't expect downtown Sydney hotels can be this expensive. I started bidding for Dec. 2-4,2009 from $100 a week ago. At that time Orbitz has discount price for Marriott Harbor at $310, I didn't take it. Now I got rejected with a price at $350, which left me with no choice, but to take Marriott Harbor at $452 on Hotels.com. Most of hotels with 3 star up have run out of rooms on both days or either day. It seems bidding-right-before-trip strategy is not working for Sydney. Plan your trip early and make reservations early, the cancellation policy is one day before your checking-in day.I also tried 4* and offer price went up to $100 without success.
AaronJB Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 Welcome to Betterbidding! :)Unfortunately, Sydney can be quite expensive at times and $100 unfortunately is not going to be a realistic bid when prices are this high. This seems like a particularly busy time in the city, as many 4*'s are sold out. There are a few of what appear to be lower-end 4*'s for $169-229 on Orbitz.com in the city center area of Sydney for these dates. While possibly not as nice as the Marriott, they may be worth considering for so much less. You may want to try bidding higher for a 4* and if your bids are not accepted by the time you reach this price range, these hotels are available.Additionally, coupon code FABSAVE10 should take 10% off per night most hotels on Orbitz.com.Please use the site's Orbitz.com, HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
