jelliott04 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Hi all. I'm a new to BB and am finding LOTS of useful info! Thanks!I'm wondering if there is anyway to tell if hotwire is offering the Wynn or the Venetian? I am ok with Encore, Pallazo and Venetian but not sure how I'd feel about the Wynn since the standard rooms are non-suite. Price is a factor of course, LOL.I have been checking hotwire the last few weeks as well as the venetian's site and the prices seem to be falling right now. Venetian is $199 and there is an offer of $143 via hotwire. My dates are 1/17 - 1/22 which is Sunday arrival and checking out on Friday. The $143 from hotwire has the following amenities: Casino, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, Gold Nearby, Tennis Nearby and Spa Services. I see that these are for the Wynn in the hotel list but it also says it could be the same for Venetian. Any trick to figuring out further besides a crystal ball? :)I have not bid through HOTWIRE before but have used PRICELINE many times in the past but with the addition of Trump to PRICELINE, I am not interested in using PRICELINE this time around. If I use hotwire I will certainly use the supplied link.J
AaronJB Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Welcome to Betterbidding! :)This listing could be a match for the Wynn or Venetian; without a tripadvisor rating showing on this listing, there's no way to know for sure.In terms of a suite, TheHotel at Mandalay Bay is having a special on these dates on Orbitz.com w/1 night free (for a suite), which averages out to $132 (regular rate = $165). However, if you use coupon code FABSAVE10, that's an extra 10% off, which averages out to about $118 and change per night, which is quite a good deal. The new all-suite Vdara (which opens next month) is $169 - 10% off using the FABSAVE10 coupon for a suite. Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links, and let us know if you have any questions.
jelliott04 Posted November 29, 2009 Author Report Posted November 29, 2009 Thanks for the welcome!I don't know what "trip adviser ratings" are. Is that something I can find or look up and report back?My spouse will be at a convention during this time so I'll have many hours alone and sort of want to be in a central location or towards that end. The Hotel seems so far in the other direction and not near any of my favorite hotels/casinos. I'll do some research on it and see and I really appreciate the info and coupons. I've always wanted to stay at The Hotel but always go towards the other end of the strip. Thanks for taking the time to respond.J
AaronJB Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 Tripadvisor ratings are the rating for the hotel at tripadvisor.com. Sometimes tripadvisor ratings are seen on the detail page for HOTWIRE listings and when they do appear, they can sometimes narrow down the possibilities of which hotel is showing.Thank you for using the site's links, and please let us know what you decide and if you have further questions. :)
jelliott04 Posted November 30, 2009 Author Report Posted November 30, 2009 I checked HOTWIRE earlier and the price was $144, then it was $143 for a while...I checked later and it was back up to $144 and now it is $154 again! Wonder what makes the prices change and how they decide when to change them? J
jelliott04 Posted December 3, 2009 Author Report Posted December 3, 2009 Is there a way to tell the difference between Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo? IE, resort fees or beds etc?J

jelliott04 Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 Hi. I did check that link and posted a while back trying to figure out the hotel for my date but whoever replied said they couldn't tell. It sounded here like there were other ways since but I'm not sure. The hotels link says that the Wynn/Encore and Venetian/Palazzo have the same amenities. I wanted to stay in a "suite" so didn't want to get the Wynn. My post is for Jan 17 - 22. Thanks.J
AaronJB Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 The Encore and the Wynn have not been reported with the same amenities. The Encore has been reported with a Suite icon.
jelliott04 Posted December 5, 2009 Author Report Posted December 5, 2009 The Encore and the Wynn have not been reported with the same amenities. The Encore has been reported with a Suite icon.So it isn't the Encore or the Palazzo. Either the Venetian or the Wynn. That narrows it down but I don't want the Wynn. Thanks for the help!J
jelliott04 Posted December 10, 2009 Author Report Posted December 10, 2009 Just wanted to follow up and say thank you to everyone who replied. As it turns out I logged in to my players club account and checked availability for my dates (I had been doing this every few days and there was no availability) and low and behold my dates turned up available. I got a $49.99 rate for 2 queens in the Venezia tower. I would have preferred the Palazzo but for $49.99 I'll take it. Thanks again all who replied. I still need a rental car so I'll check rates and use the links given so the forum gets credit. J
AaronJB Posted December 10, 2009 Report Posted December 10, 2009 Thank you for following up on the thread - glad you were able to get a very good deal for these dates. Using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links for the car rental portion is greatly appreciated. Please post your win and any questions you may have in the Car Rental section of the board.Enjoy your stay. :)
