Hi,

I've been bidding on a 4 star in all areas of manhattan for Dec. 4 - 8 and have bid up to $300. I also considered a 3.5* in all the areas and bid up to $220. I'm not sure what to do at this point and how much it will cost me to get a room. Any advice would be appreciated.

Welcome to Betterbidding! :)

This is one of the busiest times of the season for Manhattan and quite a few hotels are sold out - those that are not are quite expensive - regular rate for many 4*'s is well into the $400's or even pricier.

What would be your max bid per night, and is the downtown area acceptable?

I would bid up to 350 plus tax if I have to. Downtown is okay. When I bid $300, I checked off all manhattan areas.

I noticed that Hotwire has a 4* in the Empire State Buiding area for $329. The amenities are: Boutique, Non-smoking rooms, Fitness Center and Business Center. Do you have any idea what hotel this might be? Also there is a 4* Central Park Area hotel with the amenities...Boutique, Fitness, Business Center and Internet. Would these be better options?

The 4* Empire State Building property (which is quite a bit more expensive if 2 people are selected instead of 1) is likely the Roger Williams. I'd definitely suggest that over the Central Park listing, which would appear to be the On the Ave.

If you have already bid up to $300 for a 4* for these dates in Midtown zones (MTW, MTE, ESB, TS, CPS), then you could try $310, then $320 and if neither are accepted, grab the HOTWIRE listing for $329.
