Priceline Hotel: Bidding help for NYC hotel Dec 10-13

Looking for 3* or better in TS (preferred) or MW (2nd choice) for 3 nights arriving December 10. Already have a confirmed refundable reservation that totals $558 for the 3 nights, including taxes and fees, at a hotel with good reviews. Will take my chances with a priceline hotel if I could get the total below $500. Suggestions?

Under $500 'all-in' is about a $140 bid, which at the moment i'm doubtful will be enough for a 3* hotel in either of these zones. We can suggest a strategy for you to try, but first, what is your back-up hotel?

My backup is Herald Square Hotel at 31st and Broadway. It's only considered 2*, but has good reviews on tripadvisor. Location is in priceline's ESB zone, but still has a convenient location. Not sure if I should include ESB with priceline because I don't want to end up on the eastern edge of the zone.

I'm a little doubtful PRICELINE can match the rate for a 2* at the 3* level during a time of year this busy. You could definitely try, but I'm guessing if a bid was accepted in either of these areas, it would be at or near your max.

If there is a section of a zone that you don't want to stay in, then i wouldn't recommend bidding that zone.

I'm doubtful your $140 budget will be enough for these dates, but if you want to give it a try i would bid as follows:

Select 3* Times Square...

Bid $130, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3* MTW...

Bid $130, if rejected add Times Square...

Bid $140
