thesqueegeekid
I am looking at 6 rooms for one night (Jan 31) ... rates are very cheap ranging from $15 to mid-$20's.I have read the reviews for the Flamingo, Harrahs, Golden Nugget and the Ramada Express ... however, the reviews are all mixed so, I can not decide. My parents will be with their friends and I do not want them complaining.Any advice would help from anyone who's stayed there? What is my safest bet? Link to comment
Guest aldo
We go to Laughlin at least twice a year, and prefer it to Las Vegas (which we find overwhelming). We are slot club members at the Ramada Express and love that hotel. It's not on the river side of the main drag, but it's easier to maneuver from the parking structure (which is covered) into the two room towers (one tower is adult-only). The people there are very friendly, and the slots are very loose. They pride themselves on their American Spirit, honoring Veterans with a show, and are always involved in the community. They have a train that runs around the property: fun to ride, and it's free. Request a high floor, river view room, and you can see everything on the strip.Harrah's has a "beach" and a non-smoking casino. It's at the far end of the main road, but they have water-taxis that can take you to the other casinos. At the other end is the Riverside Hotel and Casino, which has lots to do (theaters, bowling, car museum). The rest of the hotels are in-between, next to the water with a "river walk" connecting them. Everything is within walking distance (except Harrah's). Laughlin is a great place for snow-birds in the winter- lots of RV'ers from Wisconsin coming in for the pleasant weather. It's very low-key until Spring Break, then it gets overrun by crazy college kids.Hope this helps. Link to comment
bbbb
I have stayed at Harrah's and Flamingo many times and they both have good rooms and bad rooms. If the rates are that low you should not have any problem getting a nice room. If you pick Harrah's and they say anything about a handicapped room turn and run. I have always got a good room until last month when I took the handicapped room to get nonsmoking. At the Flamingo try to get something in the tower to the right of check-in,by the water. Last time I stayed there I got the tower close to the road and the room was not that nice. Link to comment
thesqueegeekid
Thanks for all your advice... I just booked Harrah's through travelworm for $18 for Jan 31st.The non-smoking casino was the main selling feature ... they also loved the beach and water-taxi option.I actually booked the wrong date by accident (I've got way too many bookings on the brain) ... I called their customer service ... they were super-nice and waived the $25 fee per room and moved the date. Link to comment
thereuare
Thank you for the support by using our TRAVELWORM affiliate link :) With a $25 cancellation fee, it would have been cheaper to keep the room and simply book an additional nite for the actual nite you needed! Guest aldo
Good deal, 'kid! Make sure your folks valet at Harrah's. The walk from the parking structure to the resort is complicated- elevator to walkway to elevator, and down. It's worth the few bucks tip not to have to drag your luggage. Great buffet there, too. Hope they have fun!P.S. I've been watching your wedding prep- congrats and best wishes! Link to comment
