Priceline Hotel: Wanted: Downtown Ottawa New Year's Eve

Hi,

We really want Les Suites in downtown Ottawa for New Year's Eve so that we can go skating on the Rideau Canal. However, Les Suites is not available for that date, so we'd like to get something else nearby, prefereably withing walking distance to the canal. Can someone suggest a Priceline strategy? Your help is appreciated.

Especially interested to hear from MJRBIM or thereyourare.

MJRBIM may be able to respond better than i, but in the meantime... i'm familiar with the hotels and prices in the area, but not their geography, would any hotel in the shaded region of Ottawa be acceptable?

Tried MJRBIM's method:

Offered $38 for 2.5* in downtown Ottawa. Offer refused.

Added Hull and increased offer to $44. Offer refused again.

We'd like to stay in the downtown area, but Hull would be acceptable. East and West areas are not acceptable. Thinking about trying Hotwire, but the properties offered don't match the descriptions in the Canda Hotwire hotels list very well.

This close to New Year's Eve - and it sounds like you're out of rebids or higher zones....

However, if it's just for two(2) of you, and you have another PL account available - I would suggest starting a new PL bid for Ottawa DT 4* at $60.

2nd Bid - Add HULL

3rd Bid - Add 3*

4th Bid - Add 2.5*

Otherwise, you should probably try HOTWIRE over PL....I'm seeing a 3* in DT Ottawa at $69 US - Amenities (Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center) - my guess is the Marriott Courtyard or the Holiday Inn.

I noticed that some of the Hotwire selections above approach $100+, so i'll also throw the Novotel into the mix for $99 in case you wanted a 'sure thing' (also mention as i don't know the location and maybe this is near the park you want to skate at?). REVIEWS are also good.

Thanks for all of your help. Unfortunately, the Rideau Canal Skateway is closed today, due to poor weather conditions. I'll try to get Les Suites again later in the month, when it's good and cold!
