Priceline Hotel: 3* Detroit (Downtown) Hilton Garden Inn

I had told my friend that we should put in a bid at $35 to see if we'd get a 3-star (or higher) in downtown Detroit. We both thought that this bid would get rejected for sure. Right before submitting the bid, my friend convinced me to increase the bid amount by a dollar (he now suffers from buyer's remorse and wishes we attempted the $35 just for kicks, lol). In any case, on the first try, landed the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Detroit (a 3-star hotel), for $36 before fees. We booked two rooms at the same time for our group. Overall very pleased with a fantastic bargain price that would be virtually impossible in many other cities, and without the help of PRICELINE Name Your Own Price (and this fantastic forum).

Just FYI, the subtotal for the two rooms came out to $36 * 2 = $72

then Taxes & Fees = $17.16

$72 (two rooms) + $17.16 (taxes & fees) = $89.16 out the door

My friend is cutting me a $40 check, and we're calling it even.

That's a heck of a steal for that hotel. It is a very nice hotel, and is in a pretty good location, with quick access to Greektown. Enjoy Detroit!
