I have booked a Flexfare using Hotwire and they booked me on US Air. :)

Does anyone have any experience knows what the policies are if

1) US Air goes out of business before/during the trip?

2) Delays result in missed meetings/loss of business.

is it possible to somehow convince/persuade Hotwire to change the carrier?

TIA

From Our Rules and Policies (of which there are very few):

While we welcome both positive and negative experiences, please keep in mind that the spirit of this message board is helping users.

If you have a complaint, problem, or question with a recent or upcoming Priceline/Hotwire stay, we will be happy to do what we can to help, but please be considerate of the board's primary goal of helping others and first post the details of your 'win.'

It is important for everyone to know when problems and customer service issues arise, but the majority of the users come here to see winning bid information... so please oblige them with this information before asking for them for help.

So please first post the details of your win (price, dates, etc) and then we'll be happy to comment.

Thank you.

Can you also provide the routing... just the price and dates doesn't help much others that are thinking of using Hotwire for the same route. (but i'll go ahead and answer you below anyways knowing that you'll add the route info)....

1) I dont' think you'll have any success trying to change the carrier based upon fears of the airline going under. If you can find articles in the press that state that their bankruptcy is inevitable you may have better luck, but as of now, USAir is flying and it's "business as usual". Others who book direct may choose to fly another carrier, thus creating the open seats on your flight for them to offer to Hotwire at a deep discount. If you're going to contact them, i would do so first by phone and if no resolve, then by email... the email will give you written proof that you suspected a problem before traveling and gave them the opportunity to fix it before you left. This way if you do have a problem, you have more 'ammunition' to get them to take care of the balance of your trip. If the carrier stops operations, i think Hotwire would try to book you on another carrier, but i'm doubtful they will do that until anything 'official' is announced by USAir or a decision is imminent.

2) No carrier, even if you book direct, will compensate you for missed meetings or loss of business. Their contract with you is to get you from point A to Point B, with no guarantees of arrival time.

Thanks thereuare.

I havent been thinking clearly nowdays...didnt realise the price is useless without the origin and destination.

Flying from Chicago -> Orlando.

I think i will try my luck. Some of my colleagues, who have used Hotwire, have had good experiences with them and i am hoping that i dont have a different experience.

Anyways...waiting for long due vacation...
