oinkage Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Hi guys,I could you please give me some help with booking a NYC hotel, downtown, from December 15th to 19th?My fianc
AaronJB Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 Welcome to the site. The Grand Hyatt win you mention was only for a small part of your stay (the 19th.) Unfortunately, the 15th-18th are more expensive. This page provides a listing of all reported PRICELINE wins for NY, while this provides a list for HOTWIRE.The zones are listed in greater detail at the links above. MTE = Midtown East, MTW = Midtown West, etc.The two services are quite different - with PRICELINE, you bid for a certain star rating in a certain area. If any of the hotels at that star rating in that area accept, you are locked in at that hotel. With HOTWIRE, you are picking from a set of listings and only find out after purchase what the hotel is. HOTWIRE is more expensive, but you find out more (aside from the name, of course) before deciding on a purchase.$100 per night may be able to swing a 3*. When you say $130, do you mean "all in" (taxes, etc included)? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
oinkage Posted November 4, 2009 Author Report Posted November 4, 2009 Thank you very much for your insight, AaronJB!Yes, $130 is including all fees, so roughly $520 all up for the stay.3* sounds very good too, thanks for the indication of what we might get for our money.I guess I might just give it a go then and hope for the best. I will of course use your link!Probably TS zone I think.
AaronJB Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 TS is the most popular, and as a result, often the most expensive. You will likely get more for your money if you are willing to accept some of the surrounding areas - MSG/Convention, Empire State Building, CPS, Midtown East, Midtown West.Let us know if you have questions or if you are successful.

Re-bidding only by adding less desirable areas and increasing with $5 increments. Can I close the browser window and start over?I guess I want to increase my daily room rate, however, not in some of the areas I have alreadty 'locked in'.
AaronJB Posted November 4, 2009 Report Posted November 4, 2009 If you have already made a particular bid, you cannot again for 24 hours unless re-bidding is used.
oinkage Posted November 22, 2009 Author Report Posted November 22, 2009 Just letting you know I got the Wyndham Garden Hotel Manhattan, Chelsea West for $130 per night December 15th - 19th.Very happy with the win, especially since these dates have proven extremely difficult to get any response on.Hotel site quotes $249 per night the same days, so I'm very happy. Thanks guys for the help! :)
yellowdog Posted November 22, 2009 Report Posted November 22, 2009 oinkageThank you for sharing your result with the board :) Great to see that you're happy with the outcomeEnjoy your stay. Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start future purchases.Yellowdog.
