richs_ca Posted December 29, 2004 Report Posted December 29, 2004 I just thought I would add a brief review of Hotel 5A now that I have finished my trip. Location of the Hotel 5A (MTS) is fine, but not great. It's about a 10 minute walk to Times Square and the Theatre district. It's very quiet around the hotel at night as there is really nothing going on there. So if it's not too cold or rainy, then you'll be fine. But if you like to be in the middle of the action, then this isn't the place for you. The lobby is very small, so when there is a group checking in or out it can get very crowded. The staff was cordial, but not overly friendly. Most importantly, the room itself was great, especially for the price we paid. The room is kind of small, but for Midtown Manhatten it was bigger than expected. The bathroom was spotless, and the counter, tub and toilet was clearly new. The bed was very comfortable. The carpet was old and shotty, but not dirty. So overall, this hotel was fantastic value. Decent location, staff was helpful (but again not especially friendly), and the room was great. Best value I've ever had in NYC.
