MommaJo Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 Hi there! I have a somewhat odd situation..... My friend is flying home from Australia and arrives in NYC on Dec. 6th. I am planning to join her for the 6th to 8th and her parents are coming for the 7th -10th. So, to be clear, we have:6th: 2 of us (want 2 beds)7th: 4 of us (want 3 beds, maybe a suite or two rooms in the same hotel)8th & 9th: 3 of them (want 2 beds, could stay with suite or combine to one room)I realize that is an expensive time of the year! Was thinking I'd like to try Priceline, but is that even possible to arrange for this situation? Or should we just try to find some suite hotels and go direct? We're flexible on location - just want to do some shopping and maybe take in a show. Can anyone also recommend a good area or areas?Don't have a set budget..... looks like anything under $300 for the four of us would be a deal! Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can't use PRICELINE for the manner in which you intend above... as PRICELINE doesn't book suites thru their "name your own price" service and also, they only guarantee double occupancy (not bed configuation, so there would be no way to request two beds vs. one... and in NYC there is a large percentage of hotel rooms which only have one bed)If you use HOTWIRE and search for triple occupancy you could guarantee separate sleeping accomodations (this is usually a room with a two bed configuration, although the 'second bed' could be a pullout sofabed or a rollaway brought into the room) and purchase as follows:12/6 = one room (your and your friend)12/7-12/8 = two rooms (1 room for you and your friend... 1 room for her parents)12/8-12/10 = one room (for her parents)You'd have to purchase the above in three separate transacations, so no assurance that you'd receive the same hotel for each leg of the stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or the links in our support page if you decide to book direct)Let us know whatever you decide or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 A 1BR Suite at the Murray Hill East is $329 for these dates on Orbitz.com, and coupon code FABSAVE10 takes 10% off = $296.10.Please use the site's Orbitz.com link if this idea is of interest. The other big recommendation would be the Salisbury, which is in a fantastic location. Expedia has a sale on suites (700 SQ FT) at this property for $279 (on sale from $349). Coupon code 10NOV takes $10 off = $269.Expedia also has the Holiday Inn Express Times Square for $217 (and $10 off using 10NOV = $207.) That would include breakfast, but would not be a suite. Please use the site's Expedia.com link if this idea is of interest.
