Priceline Hotel: 3* Ft Lauderdale (Downtown) Hyatt Place Airport North

I need 2 rooms in Ft. Lauderdale for Tuesday, March 9, 2010. We would like to stay at the Hyatt Place Airport North on 10th Avenue. It looks like it's $89 on Hotwire, based on what I've read is the criteria.

I'm new to Priceline and would appreciate a bidding strategy (amount, zone, etc.) to win rooms at Hyatt Place.

There is no way to guarantee a particular hotel on either service. As a trade-off for the discounted rates, users of PRICELINE and HOTWIRE have to be willing to be flexible on where they stay. This is especially true on PRICELINE, where there's absolutely no way to target a particular hotel when bidding.

Yes. What other hotels might I get that are 3 Star Downtown? From what I can find, maybe Riverside or Embassy Suites, either of which would be good too? Any other hotel people have won?

Both Riverside and Embassy Suites are good hotels. Embassy Suites got the better location if you're going on a cruise.

Thanks. Looks like a 3 star would be Embassy Suites, Hyatt Place, or Riverside Hotel. Any of those would be great. I read somewhere that someone just Pricelined Hyatt Place for $70 for 3/8, which is the night before our 3/9 night. I realize prices MIGHT go down as we get closer, but rates might also go up or be unavailable so I'd like to go ahead and lock in our rooms now.

Does this sound like a good strategy to bid for 2 rooms:

Bid $65 Ft. Lauderdale Downtown 3 Star

If not accepted, add Ft. Lauderdale Airport North 2 Star and increase bid to $70

Also, will Priceline let me put a different name on the 2nd hotel room? We're meeting in FLL, not traveling together, so will check in about an hour apart.

Bids were for 2 rooms 3* Ft. Lauderdale. Wanted Downtown so only rebid zone was Airport North.

11/15 3 pm bid $65 Downtown. Added Airport North & increased bid to $70. Refused.

11/16 4pm bid $70 Downtown. Added AN & increased bid to $75. Refused.

11/18 8am bid $70 Downtown. Added AN & increased bid to $80. Refused.

11/19 2:30pm bid $70 Downtown. Accepted for Hyatt Place.

$165.18 total for 2 rooms at the Hyatt Place on 10th Ave in Ft. Lauderdale.

Currently per room is $197 on website and $89 on Hotwire (+ taxes/fees).
