Vincent Lyon Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Hi,Before asking my question, I'd like to tell you that I think this forum is really helpful. I've never used it before, but it seems great. My question is: which one do you think is this hotel:On hotwire: 5 stars hotel location: Mayfair - Soho Date: from 24th to 25th of December 2009Price: $172 / night Amenities listed: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Spa ServicesAnd 4.5 out of 5 on tripadvisor.ThanksVincent
thereuare Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! (and thanks for the compliments on the site :) )This amenity combination and star rating match the Inter-Continental Park Lane so that would be my best guess. The one caveat is that the current Tripadvisor rating for this property is 4.0/5.0 (not the 4.5 HOTWIRE is indicating for this offering above) However, the TA information provided by HOTWIRE is not 'real time' in that it is only updated about once a month, so i'm guessing that the InterContinental is the property above, but the TA rating has changed since last updated by HOTWIRE.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. Vincent Lyon Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 Thanks for your quick answer :-)I have another question. How can we know what kindda room we're going to get ?Because that's right, the price of $173 is not bad if we get a room which is normally $300 ... but what if we get a room which is $120 ... isn't it possible to know before ?Thanks againVincent
thereuare Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 You should expect a 'standard' room... are you able to find a room at any 5* hotels in this area for $120/nite? :)Assuming this is the Inter-Continental, best rate i see on their website for your date is $210/nite. If the room rate (excluding taxes and/or fees) you pay is more than the best avaialable rate you're able to find elsewhere for the same room type, dates, occupancy, etc. HOTWIRE does have a "double the difference" guarantee. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Vincent Lyon Posted November 20, 2009 Author Report Posted November 20, 2009 Hi,Thanks a lot for your quick answer again !I went to Hotwire again today (through your link ;-) ) and I found another hotel (or this is maybe the same, but the price is not).Do you think this is the same ?5 stars hotellocation: Mayfair - SohoDate: from 24th to 25th of December 2009Price: $169 / nightAmenities listed:Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-speed Internet AccessSpa ServicesThere is no trip advisor rate available...I have another question. You said I should expect a standard room. Do we know that in the confirmation email ? What is a standard room ? is it for 2 adult ? with kin bed ? I didn't find the information on the hotel website. I'm sorry for asking you probably basics questions, but I'm not good at hotel website :-( ...Thanks a lotVincent
AaronJB Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 HOTWIRE guarantees bedding for the amount of people indicated. 2 people would equal one bed, although that may not necessarily be a king.
thereuare Posted November 20, 2009 Report Posted November 20, 2009 HOTWIRE's price will often fluctuate a few dollars from search to search... the above is most likely the same hotel you asked about in the first post (the amenities and all other info is the same)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Vincent Lyon Posted November 20, 2009 Author Report Posted November 20, 2009 ok thanks a lot :-).You're really nice on this forum and efficient!I'll talk about your forum in France!
Vincent Lyon Posted November 23, 2009 Author Report Posted November 23, 2009 Hi,I found another hotel on hotwire and I wanted to know what you thought it was.Dates are the same: 24 - 25 DecemberLocation is Bloomsbury - Marble ArchPrice: $95Amenities:Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet AccessThere is no tripadvisor note :-(...Thanks,Vincent
thereuare Posted November 23, 2009 Report Posted November 23, 2009 These amenities are common for a 4* (and higher) city hotel, but from the Hotwire Hotel List this matches previous reports for the Melia White House so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
