johntdsb Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 hi I am trying to get a 4 star hotel for dec 12th. I have bid up to $210 a night. I have tried it with all the areas. Anyone have any idea what it will take to get a room? over or under $250????
AaronJB Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)What would be your max budget per night? There seems to be something going on on these dates, as many hotels are sold out and the remainder are showing very high rates. Unfortunately, I think over $250 to get a 4* for these dates (if there's any availability at all; HOTWIRE has little to offer on these dates) is a certainty. If there's any way that you could bump your stay forward 1 day, rates are significantly cheaper on 12/13-14. You may want to consider looking for a 3.5* instead, as while not certain, a 3.5* property may be able to be had via PRICELINE for under $250 (HOTWIRE has a couple of 3.5* choices at about $250.)Let us know your thoughts and then we can offer further suggestions from there. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
thereuare Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I'd also ask what the purpose of your stay is... what i believe to be the Sheraton Suites in Weehawken is available for $159/nite; it's not my favorite hotel in the area, but provides easy bus access to Manhattan and for a one nite stay and $100 savings it may be a worthwhile alternative.Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. johntdsb Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 i have bid up to $250 on a 4 star and 200 on a 3 star with no luck. I will prob have to get a place just outside new york and take a bus in. Is that $159 hotel my best choice? also how long would it take to go to time square by bus from that area?
thereuare Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Assuming no/little traffic, i'd put it at less than 10 minutes.I'll take another look to confirm options, but just noticed that the dates in your topic title (12/13) is different than the date in your first post above (12/12)... please confirm the correct date and we'll explore further. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. johntdsb Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 sorry its just the saturday night the 12th
thereuare Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 i have bid up to $250 on a 4 star and 200 on a 3 star with no luck.If you're willing to bid up to $250 for a 3.5* i think you have a good chance at success within Manhattan. If you don't want to take the above, before taking a HOTWIRE offer for $159, i'd book the fully refundable (until the day before check-in) rate HERE at $179/nite. After HOTWIRE's booking fee this only amounts to ~$13 more than the $159 HOTWIRE rate, and gives you the flexibility to continue to try PRICELINE and HOTWIRE in the weeks to come. Please use our Sheraton link if you do the above and choose to book direct.Let us know your thoughts and/or what you decide or if we can be of further help.
