Supafly Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Hello,I am new to this site. I went thru some of the old threads and I did not see these dates. I am open minded as to dates. I would love to get a place like the Grand Hyatt. Thanks for any help
AaronJB Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)What would be your budget per night for hotel? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links when you are ready to purchase.
Supafly Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 I would go up to like 215. If I knew I was getting a nice place. I will use this sites.
Supafly Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 I am also interested in some of the 4 star places in soho
thereuare Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I am open minded as to dates. You will likely get a better deal if you're able to postpone your plans until after 12/20 or so... are you plans flexible enough to allow for dates after the 20th?I am also interested in some of the 4 star places in sohoNote that PRICELINE's zone which includes Soho also include the Downtown/Financial, so there is no way to target just the Soho area of the zone... are you able to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of this zone? Which zones are you willing to accept? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Supafly Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 I can not postpone. I have a surprise party for a friend on the 5th in Tribeca and a concert on the 4th. I do not mind if I got a place in the financial district
Supafly Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 I have tried up to 225 for a 4star plus. Nothing so far
thereuare Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I am open minded as to dates.I mentioned delaying the trip as per your quote above, but it appears that your dtes are not flexible at all?Which zone(s) did you include in your $225 bidding? Supafly Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 I have gone up to 250. I did midtown east and downtown soho. It doesn't look like I am going to get a bargain. It seems this is a very popular weekend.I have gone up to 260. Am I better off trying HOTWIRE?
thereuare Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 This is one of the most popular weekends in NYC.Searching HOTWIRE doesn't reveal any offerings within your price range either. You still may have to go even higher, but have you considered including other zones with 4* hotels and/or lowering your star rating? At what point do you decide a slight drop in star rating or a nearby zone is worth the offset of bidding even higher? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Supafly Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 How much higher from 260 do you think I would have to go? I appreciate your help
AaronJB Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 The 4* Embassy Suites Downtown is $309 via Orbitz.com. If you use coupon code FABSAVE10, you get another 10% off = $278.10.At least with that you would get breakfast/evening reception/larger room. With HOTWIRE showing 4*'s at $350-400+ for Midtown, I think a 4* bid for Midtown is definitely going to require more towards $300. You could bid up to $275, and if that doesn't work, then take the ES.Please use the site's PRICELINE, HOTWIRE or Orbitz.com links.Does this work for your plans?
Supafly Posted November 18, 2009 Author Report Posted November 18, 2009 The Embassy definitely seems interesting. Thanks for your efforts. I may go that route. What if I broke the two nights up? I may actually have somewhere to stay friday night now.
thereuare Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I don't think only bidding Saturday nite helps you that much for these particular dates... you could certainly try, but i wouldn't expect too much of a better price than the Embassy Suites rate above for a 4* property. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
