SX0T Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I saw some other threads where people had mentioned winning 11 dollar/day costs on PRICELINE for relatively the same date I am looking for. But I have had no luck. I just posted a reply to the other topic about a Kauai rental in December, but I thought I'd post it here also in case anyone has a response for me.I have been trying for around the same time in December for Kauai. December 18-22.I have been rejected on bids of as low as 12-13, and as high as 20-25.I am wondering how it was possible to get an 11 dollar bid to work.Anyone have any suggestions?11 Dollars seems like an outrageously awesome bid as rentals are going according to other websites I've checked for FAR higher than that. I'm talking like 57-100 dollars a day, so 11 seems crazy. Any suggestions on something I may be doing wrong? Thanks!
thereuare Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I have been trying for around the same time in December for Kauai. December 18-22.The dates of the other wins are not "around the same time" as yours... mid-December is the start of peak season in Hawaii.Based upon the prices you've quoted, your bids are still less than half price of the best conventional rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels, is this correct? Is $25 your current maximum bid? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. SX0T Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 25.00/day is the highest I have ATTEMPTED to bid. I haven't won anything. And if I look at the "price comparison list" on Priceline, or do searches on Kayak etc. I am finding that there is an average of anywhere between 57-100/day as what most are offering.
SX0T Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 Also, I'm just curious as to what is making rental on Kauai so expensive,I am on other islands for parts of my trip and these are the rates I'm payingHawaii (Kona)
thereuare Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 I suspect it's that you're right on the cusp of hi-season.Change your KOA rental dates to 12/18-12/22 and see rates nearly 3x what you're paying for just a few day earlier OR chance your LIH dates to 12/12-12/18 and you'll see rates 1/3 of what you're currently seeing for 12/18-12/22 (both of which are good examples of how rates are dates specific and can be drastically different from one day to the next)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
