trenhoel Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Travel dates are 01/16/10-01/20/10. Amenities of this 4.5* property are: Restaurant, Business, Internet, Spa, Fitnes. Used to match the 5* Intercontinental Madrid in previous wins. Possible downgrade or new property?
thereuare Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Can't say for certain, but given the TA match, i would guess that the InterContinental is the good possibility. If you want to mitigate the risk somewhat you can see if this hotel appears for both the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain' and confirm the name of the hotel and its one that you're happy with... if so go ahead and purhase the additional nites, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. trenhoel Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 Thanks, thereuare, for your ultrafast response! Haven't made up my mind yet for this stay but I'll keep you updated!
MadFlyer Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I have stayed at the IC Madrid on several occasions and can not imagine that they have been downgraded as it is a true international standard 5 star hotel. In Spain, hotels themselves decide if they want to be a 5 star hotel and only need to meet the facility requirements and they pay an additional tax. My best guess would be that this one is the Hesperia Madrid which is just up from the Intercontinental. The AC Santo Mauro would be highly unlikely.
trenhoel Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 Today my $76-bids were rejected for 4* Madrid in zones Old Madrid+Chamberi-Chamartin-Salamanca for travel from 01/16/10 to 01/20/10. Got a counteroffer for $116 which I found much to high to accept. Any strategic advice for further bidding?
Romelle Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 You've got lots of time. IMO, counter offers should ONLY be accepted if one is out of time or bids or patience or nerve. Romelle
trenhoel Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 My best guess would be that this one is the Hesperia Madrid which is just up from the Intercontinental.Hi MadFlyer ! The Hesperia Madrid hasn't got a spa hence this option can be ruled out.
