Priceline Hotel: 4* Vancouver (Downtown) Hyatt Regency

Needed a hotel for New Year's Eve in Vancouver--started bidding at $65 (PL countered with $82). Tried adding 3 more rebid zones (70, 75, and 78), and got the Hyatt Regency at $78. Not sure if it would have gone lower if I'd hung on a few more weeks, but I was a bit worried that New Year's Eve might be busy, so wanted to get it sorted out. I'd tried a couple weeks ago and went up as high as $75 with no luck. The Hyatt's lowest web site rate for that night is CDN$219, so I am still pretty pleased. Haven't stayed there before but it looks quite nice.

Subtotal: $78.00 (US dollars)

Taxes and Fees: $20.37 (US dollars)

Total Charges: $98.37 (US dollars)

I used the betterbidding PRICELINE link! Have a few other nights that I need to book, so will add those when I have the details.

I just saw on Travelzoo (posted about 3 hours after I booked :-D) that the Hyatt Regency Vancouver is offering rooms starting at $109CDN all through 1 Dec- 3 Jan (book by 25 Nov), so my rate is not quite the saving that it was when I booked it! But PRICELINE still worked out to about CDN$25 less than this offer (with taxes taken into consideration), because the exchange rate is just about par right now.

I will be interested to see what PL can do for my earlier Vancouver dates (25-28 Dec); I will post the results! I would quite like a suite hotel if possible but HOTWIRE doesn't have anything up at the moment and there don't seem to be a lot of other big deals going elsewhere.
