Sunriser Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Hello,i've been trying to bid for a Hotel in Manhatten (MTE,MTW, Times Square, Madison Square Garden, ESB etc) for a 3,5 to 4 Star Hotel, unfortunately not so successful so far.My maximum bid was $130 so far, but no luck.Does anyone have an idea what else i can try? I am aware that i will be there around Thanksgiving, but not sure, if the prices stays high because of that?Anyone has an advise? Thanks
AaronJB Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Good morning. :)What would be your max budget per night? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.
Sunriser Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 Good Morning :)Well, so far i always had good luck with PRICELINE and i could always get something under $100 or about $100... I know that New York is a expensive city, especially with the Hotels...I am not sure, so far my maximum bid was $130... i might go up more a little bit....
AaronJB Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Looking at retail prices, I don't believe you're very far off from what is likely a realistic price point for a winning bid. I'm guessing a 4* for these dates is going to require $135-150 if you have not been accepted for a 4* at $130.However, I think it's the last two days that are causing the problem. I'm seeing a 4* on HOTWIRE in Midtown Central (fitness, restaurant, internet) zone for $129 for 11/23-25. While possibly either the City Club or Sheraton, it's more likely the City Club. There's also a $129 4* in Central Park. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.
Sunriser Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 Alright... tried to bid up to $145...but no luck.... then i split up (Nov 23-25th) and bid for MTW and got the algonquinhotel for $120 ... Not sure if i could go lower, but got frustrated before after feeling it was hard to get something lower...Now looking for 25-27th .... will let you know..OF course, used your PRICELINE Link.
thereuare Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Congratulations on your <partial> success! This is an older, historic, hotel with lots of rich litterary history (but also 'nyc small' rooms)... be sure to sit in the lobby bar to have a drink and think about those who have done so before you.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding. If you'd like help with the balance of your stay (or to report a win for the remaining two nites) please start a NEW TOPIC.Enjoy this leg of your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
AaronJB Posted November 17, 2009 Report Posted November 17, 2009 Saw this thread again and was pleased to see you were able to get a good deal for the first half of your stay. With the hotel website showing a rate of $237, this is an exceptional deal for the time period.Plus, the hotel has its own cat.
Sunriser Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 Thanks again Aaron for your advise... well..i was not really happy with splitting it up for 4 days, since my mom is joining me and its not easy for old people..but i guess i did not have a choice if i didnt want to end up paying about $250-300 per night.. Will try again for the 2 other days...of course using your PRICELINE link !!Thanks.
