inspiration100 Posted November 15, 2009 Report Posted November 15, 2009 3 of us want to try and get cheap airfare down from Seattle to San Diego. My question is, if I bid tickets for 3 people, is there any chance pricline will have us all taking different airlines? or could we all end up taking different planes/different times Or will they be the same? Dates are: 18th - 26th of December. Round trip. What do you recommend I bid?Thank you! The Seattle hotel guy.... Stayed in 14 hotels downtown and counting! thereuare Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 If you bid all three 3 tickets together they will all be on the same flight(s).What is the best fare you're currently able to find for this route and what is the breakdown of base fare and fees/taxes?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. inspiration100 Posted November 16, 2009 Author Report Posted November 16, 2009 best I can find for the dates is $303per personwith taxes and fees it totals $345.Flexible to go a day or two AFTER this date, but not before :).I already tried bidding $140 and then $160 and was rejected both times. Do you think i'd have more luck waiting? The Seattle hotel guy.... Stayed in 14 hotels downtown and counting! Favorite Hotel Downtown: The Camlin Seattle (It's now a timeshare)
thereuare Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 Your current bids are roughly 50% off, which is not easily achievable (although not impossible) in the current airfare environment. What is your maximum bid which would still make an opaque purchase (where flight times, routing, connection, and layovers) worthwhile? inspiration100 Posted November 17, 2009 Author Report Posted November 17, 2009 I could get it for $190 with tax a few days earlier... My max bid is about $20 more than my last bid.Would I be smarter to wait until closer to the date? The Seattle hotel guy.... Stayed in 14 hotels downtown and counting! thereuare Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 Airfare rates can really be a crapshoot, but even at $20 more than your previous bid this would still be a significant discount vs. conventional rates... i'd work your way up to your max now and continue to bid. Use the Priceline Airfare Re-Bidding technique in order to make multiple times in the same cycle. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. inspiration100 Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 No go adding $20. Little bummed but I'm not willing to pay anymore than that. The Seattle hotel guy.... Stayed in 14 hotels downtown and counting! Favorite Hotel Downtown: The Camlin Seattle (It's now a timeshare)
