ras67 Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 After a good deal of research I decided to go with a 3.5 star in the River North/NMA zone. I bid $60 and got the Doubletree on my first shot, pretty much as expected. I used your PRICELINE links to begin my bidding!

ras67 Posted November 19, 2009 Author Report Posted November 19, 2009 To follow up... We were thrilled with this hotel. I was a little nervous that I should have gone for a 4 star but we couldnt have been happier. The room was very spacious as was the bathroom, and everything from the room to the lobby was done with a modern and clean decor. We had no trouble checking in late at night and even were able to switch to a room with a better view the next day.I would have slightly preferred being right ON Michigan Ave but being 2 short blocks down on Ohio which is the heart of that area was definitely good enough and I would do it again on my next trip. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted November 19, 2009 Report Posted November 19, 2009 Really glad to hear that you enjoyed the property (and hopefully you were able to get cookies at check-in), and definitely agreed - while not right on Michigan Ave, this is a nice area. There are definitely a few properties in Chicago (such as the Indigo) such as this one where, while not 4*, are very nice places and when rates are quite low, are really nice options for those who are not going to be in the room a lot. Especially glad to hear you were able to get a room w/a view, as some rooms at this property offer really nice views of the surrounding area. This property used to be a Holiday Inn (and a really a pretty nice HI, as HI's go) a few years ago, but then was remodeled/renovated and turned into an independent property for a few years before it turned into a Doubletree.
