Hi-

I'm new to these boards after unsuccessfully bidding (too low) on a 4* and 3.5* in the NMA- River North Area. After looking around, it looks like my bids were way too low. Does anyone have a suggestion of a good bid for 11/28-11/30? It's a holiday weekend, so I know it will be higher than regular weekend rates. We would be happy in either a 4* or 3.5*, but of course if we can get a 4* star for a good price, we would rather be in that.

I will use the board link to PRICELINE from now on!

Thanks!

Welcome to the site. :)

What would be your budget per night?

Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchase.

I think the max we want to spend is $150 per night, and I've only bid up to $100. I'm not even sure if that's possible for that weekend/star class, but I might as well try, right? :)

I don't know what's going on during this time period that has resulted in rates going so high, but rates are certainly through the roof at quite a few hotels.

I'd try again at $125.

I do see the MDA Apartments for $152. ($169 and change minus 10% via the FABSAVE10 coupon code), which is a good deal for this luxury apartment building. Additionally - while you would have to confirm this by calling - I don't believe that this property charges hotel tax, since it's an apartment (and an apartment whose rents are otherwise astronomical - they do, however, rent some apartments on Expedia or Orbitz.com.)

Are you interested in River North/NMA only, or would you be willing to accept the Loop?

Please use the site's HOTWIRE, PRICELINE or Orbitz.com links.

Thanks for your help! I will try again today higher (I have to wait for my 24 hours to expire from yesterdays bid)... and I just use the link from the front page, right? I will post my results when I finally get something. Yes, I think we would rather have a cheaper hotel in a better area...

You could also try for a 3.5* in the NMA area if $125 does not work for a 4*.

You can use this PRICELINE link: PRICELINE.

Oh- and another thing... do you think I am bidding too early in the month? Are better deals usually found closer to the actual date of stay?

I definitely do not think that you are bidding too early. If there is a convention or other event going on on these dates, rates could go higher between now and then.

Actually, now that I look, this is the issue:

RSNA 2009 Annual Meeting

11/29/2009 - 12/4/2009

60000 Attendees

McCormick Place

That's a pretty large convention for the city.

Oh, wow! I thought it was just due to holidays. I guess I will be bidding on the 3.5* too!!

$125 denied for both 4* and 3.5*... i'll try higher tomorrow i suppose

Just talked to a friend who bid $70 for a 4* in the Loop and it was accepted. Dates were the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving. Forgot to ask what property he got.

Just FYI

Just tried again for a 4* for $129 and got rejected, added the 3.5* and got the Marriott Magnificent Mile!! Looks like I got $100 off per night according to the rates on their website. Thanks for all the help, and I did use the link through the website:)
