Hello,

I'm helping a friend find a Chicago hotel located in a good spot for shopping on Michigan Avenue.

It will be:

2 adults

December 18 for 1 night only

They're looking for the best deal/well located/safe at night to walk/will be taking Mega Bus to/from home (drops off at Union Station)

Here's what I've found as possibles:

$69 / 3*/ North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast Hotel

fitness/restaurant/business/internet

Allerton/Drake/Mill Knicker/Westin ????????

$73 /3.5*/ North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast Hotel

boutique/fit/restaurant/business/internet/golf/tennis/spa

Hotel Indigo?????

$75/4*/ Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Hotel

fit/rest/busin/internet

Hard Rock/Hyatt/Sheraton/Westin River N/Swissotel?????

$75/3*/ North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast Hotel

Boutique/non smoking/rest

Tremont???????

$83/3*/ Museum Campus - McCormick Place - Soldier Field Hotel

fit/restaurant/busin/internet/tennis

???????????

$89/4.5*/ Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Hotel

fit/rest/internet/business

Hilton Conrad/Hard Rock/Westin River N/Intercontinental/James????????

$89/4*/ Museum Campus - McCormick Place - Soldier Field Hotel

fit/pool/rest/busin/internet

Hilton Towers/Hyatt McCormick Place???????

$92/3.5*/ Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Hotel

boutique/fit/business/internet/bed choice

Hotel 71?????

Your thoughts on the possibilities I have listed--correct?

Her best choice for her needs?

Suggestions?

If by the first one you mean 4* NMA/WT/GC, then it's likely the Allerton.

There's no reason to stay in the Museum Campus area, which would be quite inconvenient.

The 4.5* Mag Mile/Streeterville would likely be either the Intercontinental or Conrad, not the others.

Wouldn't recommend 71 or the Tremont.

Personally, I'd go for the 4* Mag Mile, as those possible hotels are along the river, making for a somewhat easier from Union Station and easy access to Michigan Ave. The 4.5* Mag Mile/Streeterville would also be an excellent choice, as either of those possibilities are directly on Michigan Ave. and right near the river.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.

Thanks for the suggestions AaronJB.

Just to make sure I'm telling her correctly--you would recommend that she bid on:

4*--$75/ Mag Mile/with fitness/restaurant/business/internet (possibly being: Hard Rock/Hyatt/Sheraton/Westin River North/Swissotel)

OR

4.5*/$89/Mag Mile/with fitness/restaurant/internet/business(possibly being: Hard Rock/Westin River North/Intercontinental/James/Hilton Conrad)

Would you recommend one over the other?

She's hoping to book tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for the quick answer, I appreciate it :)

Personally, I think either of these will work well from a location/hotel standpoint. The 4.5* would be a nice choice for a bit of an upgrade for $14 more (and again, either of those hotels are directly on Michigan Ave.). Otherwise, for one night the 4* will work just fine.

Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE link, and please let us know the results. Thanks :)

Thanks again for the help and the prompt replies!

I'll pass it along to her or help her since it's her first time to use Hotwire. I will recommend she use this site to do it and I will report what she gets when she does.

If she has never been to Chicago for shopping, I'd also recommend spending some time on State St; there are some more bargains to be found there in stores like Nordstrom Rack. Michigan Ave. is arguably the most well-known area, but State St has some worthwhile shopping, as well.

Another good suggestion, AaronJB. I hadn't thought about that. I was focused in on helping her with a Hotwire hotel. She and her daughter are definetly bargin shoppers --as I am :)

Thanks again!
