ladybug007 Posted November 10, 2009 Author Report Posted November 10, 2009 Thanks Yellowdog, Do they ever give 2 beds instead of one? Is there anyway to ensure one queen bed? That was my only concern. Thanks
AaronJB Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 NYC rooms are (in)famously small, and as a result some properties only have rooms w/1 bed or have few rooms w/2 beds. There is no way to ensure what type of bed (queen, king), but if you want 1 bed instead of two, there's definitely no concern regarding getting that.Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE link.
ladybug007 Posted November 10, 2009 Author Report Posted November 10, 2009 Thanks Aaron, I was thinking about doing this but worried that I would get stuck with two beds instead of one, which I really don't want. As long as this will not happen I guess I can let go of my obsessive compulsive behavior and book it through Hotwire. :) Thanks again!
AaronJB Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 I definitely understand the anxiety over booking through HOTWIRE - several years ago before a long trip, I saw HOTWIRE and wondered why anyone would want to book a hotel if you didn't know which hotel you were getting. Now, there's no way I would ever use anything but PRICELINE or HOTWIRE for a hotel again. The deals are just too good - and I've never had a bad (one or two mediocre ones, but I was saving more than half off the regular price) experience (although I've always researched before bidding/purchasing.)
ladybug007 Posted November 10, 2009 Author Report Posted November 10, 2009 Ok Aaron, You may have done the unthinkable...gotten me out of my comfort zone, which is quite a big accomplishment. Are both priceline and hotwire comparable? Do you recommend one over the other?Thank you so much, your help has been invaluable.
AaronJB Posted November 10, 2009 Report Posted November 10, 2009 HOTWIRE is what I would recommend for a first-timer, as one can potentially make an "educated guess" as to which hotel the listing may be, which one cannot do with PRICELINE.Additionally, the W Hotel New York, which is likely what the above listing is, is a trendy boutique property and the first W Hotel. The W chain is love it or hate it; some people love the trendy, nightclubby feel, while others may enjoy a more traditional property. Just something I thought I'd mention. I personally like the W Chain because it's definitely a change from the "norm" of most hotels, but I can see where some wouldn't care for it.
ladybug007 Posted April 19, 2011 Author Report Posted April 19, 2011 We ended up finding a deal at the W for 199.00 a night.
