oghsjbabbitt Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 I am going to Vegas with my friends from 01/02-01/05/2005. I have a reservation with Excalibur at 94.99 a night for 6 people (3 in each room). I am thinking about making a reservation at NYNY for 99 dollars a night. I am tempted to know what any of the resorts listed on the Hotwire page are.5 star:Las Vegas StripLuxury HotelThis Hotel features the following amenities: CasinoRestaurant(s)Pool(s)Fitness CenterSpa ServicesHigh-Speed Internet AccessGolf NearbyTennis Nearby,Business Center4.5 star:Las Vegas StripDeluxe HotelThis Hotel features the following amenities:CasinoRestaurant(s)Pool(s)Fitness CenterSpa ServicesGolf NearbyTennis NearbyBusiness Center4 starLas Vegas StripUpscale HotelThis Hotel features the following amenities:CasinoRestaurant(s)Pool(s)Fitness CenterSpa ServicesGolf NearbyBusiness Center3.5 StarLas Vegas StripDistinctive HotelThis Hotel features the following amenities:CasinoRestaurant(s)Pool(s)Fitness CenterSpa ServicesGolf Nearby
thereuare Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Lot's to cover in this post so let's get started....First, read my comments about how, unless i'm going for a 5* hotel (presumed to the Venetian), Las Vegas is the one area i don't use Priceline or Hotwire.Next thing you need to consider is if you want to book 3 in a room, and if so, if you want to tell them that there will be 3 of you in a room. Las Vegas is a getting a bit out of hand with their 'additional person charges' over double occupancy (upwards of $30/pp after two people in the room).Using your NYNY example... search for your dates for two people and you will see the very same room appears at $69/nite vs. the $99/nite when you book for 3 people. If your ethics are high that you won't book two in a room but try to stay three in a room, i would at the very least book 3 rooms at $69/nite than i would two rooms at $99/nite... the extra $10 spread over 3 nites would be money well spent for less cramped quarters in my opinion. Not sure how you feel about declaring double/triple occupancy situation... let us know we'll advise further.PS- i looked at the above Hotwire selections and most are identified in our HOTWIRE LAS VEGAS HOTELS list, but i didn't bother going thru all of them as i don't think the prices are very good or worthwhile relative to what you can get thru other sources. If for some reason you disagree and can't match up the above with those in our lists, let us know and i'll identify the above for you. oghsjbabbitt Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Posted December 23, 2004 Thanks....I canceled my Excalibur reservation and made the TI one(the special bbbb posted) before you replied. I still might go to NYNY at the 69 a night though. WHat is your preference between NYNY and Treasure Island? BTW, I was surprised to see that TI didnt charge for the extra person. Thanks for all your help. (Edit: BTW we are down to 5 people now).
thereuare Posted December 23, 2004 Report Posted December 23, 2004 So it sounds as if you're willing to go with booking double occupany (although one room will have an add'l person). The TI deal is very good, but if i were in your shoes and my budget wasn't very tight, i would probably try for the Venetian on Priceline. You have a very good chance at success under $120/nite, and if you could get an acceptance anywhere near $100/nite i would think the extra cost would be well spent, staying at one of the best hotels in Vegas.Of course this costs a bit more than the TI, but if your budget allows i would probaby try for the Venetian... if i got it, great, if not, the TI is still a good deal.If you want to try for a 5* Vegas property let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. oghsjbabbitt Posted December 23, 2004 Author Report Posted December 23, 2004 I actually dont have a credit card that would be able to handle the 600+ immediate charge at this time otherwise I definately would try the Venetian. Thanks for your help.
