Neptune6 Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 New York City (Upper East Side)3* Courtyard Upper East Side12/12/09-12/15/09$292 per night12/12/09 (a Saturday night) was the problem. I could have gotten Sunday and Monday nights for quite a bit less -- though not for as little as $150, which I bid for just those two nights earlier in the day.Location was key because this hotel is just 4 short blocks from my sister's apartment, and I am accompanying my elderly dad on a holiday visit to see her and her family. Thanks to Better Bidding, I was able to determine that the Courtyard was probably the only property with 3 stars that Priceline was working with on the Upper East Side. :)$255 was my highest rejected bid over the past couple of days for the three nights I needed. My accepted bid price of $292 was only $20 less than I could have booked the hotel through Priceline's regular reservation system. But, as I mentioned, I really needed this location and these dates, and I had a sense that prices were starting to escalate. I'll take the $60 savings and buy breakfast for Dad and me at Zabar's one morning! After my successful bid I called Courtyard's toll free number right away, and the operator there cheerfully confirmed me for two queens instead of the king sized bed that this pre-paid reservation defaulted to.
AaronJB Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Congratulations on your success and welcome to the site. :)Glad to hear you were able to get the location you needed, and VERY nice to hear that Marriott was willing to work with you on bedding (which isn't always the case w/PRICELINE and HOTWIRE reservations.)Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link for your purchase.Have a great stay.
