yellowdog Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding and congratulations on your success!Thank you for sharing your result with the board :) Now I'm only questioning how much cheaper I could have got it for if I'd bid a bit less! :) Enjoy your stay.Yellowdog
Romelle Posted November 5, 2009 Report Posted November 5, 2009 Ben,Now that you've got your first successful bid under your belt, you are probably hooked. Good. When you bid in the future, take a look first at the "My Rewards" area on Priceline. It is very random and not terribly frequent, but sometimes they will issue "Bonus Money" there. You didn't miss any thing on this first bid as it usually takes a while.Enjoy Amsterdam! And I can't imagine you could have gotten that nice hotel for more than a few pence less! There is a tab for Hotel Reviews. It is under the "N" for Netherlands - Amsterdam. There doesn't seem to be any reviews for the hotel you got, so I'm sure other bidders will especially appreciate any comments you care to share.Romelle

dambuster Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Ben,Well done! You have got yourself a really nice hotel in a great location at an excellent price. I have seen the very odd winning 4* bid at (just under) 40 pounds so it looks like you have got the price pretty well spot on. Cheapest price for that night on the hotels own website is 191 euro (+5% city tax which you have already paid) which equates to about 175 pounds.Dambuster, I'm pretty sure that is just be the bid. The tax and charges will add another 10 pounds or so.Brianc_li,Thank you very much for replying & being so helpful..Could I pick your brains/get your opinon on one other thing?!It's my parents 20th wedding anv in December 2009..could I book a room on Priceline NYOP on their behalf, (i'm thinking as a present!) or can i only book the room for myself as i'll obviously be paying using my credit card to make the booking?Any help on this matter greatly appreciated.Kind Regards,Dambuster
brianc_li Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 No problem booking a room for your parents (or indeed anyone else). Just make sure you put their name into the form when you are bidding. They will probably be asked for a swipe of their credit card when they check in. This is a routine procedure to cover any extras. Those aside they won't have a thing to pay.
