Hotwire Hotel: why are the prices so high?

Early March IS a very busy time in S. Florida. A good way to figure out whether priceline is likely to have any inventory is to look at hotwire for the days in question. If hotwire has no deals for the days/cities you want, you're not likely to get lucky on priceline.

As a general rule of thumb, I like to start bidding about $30 less than hotwire for priceline rooms. If I had plenty of time, I'd bid even lower and be patient -- especially if I thought hotwire's rates were higher than "usual."
