I've seen if I make a bid and it's accepted I can go to Priceline and add additional nights to my stay. If I bid for a Thursday that is not as pricey as a Friday or Saturday would I have a problem adding addtional nights for the accepted price from Thursday? Sorry that's a little confusing:) Thanks so much.

The "add a nite" feature is not always offered, and even when it is, there is no assurance that you'll be able to add additional nites at the same rate.

When you try to add additional nites 1 of 3 things will happen:

1) you're accepted at the same rate

2) you'll be told there is no availability at the same rate but that there is a room available at $xx, and you'll then be able to accept or reject this higher offer

3) you'll be told that they're unable to extend your stay

Also, note that you can only extend the stay for the same number of nites, or fewer, as your original reservation... so you can't book one nite and then extend the stay for 2 or more nites, you'd only be able to extend the stay one additional nite, in such a situation.

Thanks for that information. I am looking for December 2-5. Trying to stay any place close to Time Square. Budget around 200-230 per night. 3* or 4. Any help would be appreciated.

I am also looking for NY TS from December 4-6. I have bid up to $225 and have not had any success.

Do you have any suggestions on what the typical rate would be up to and if I expanded my sear to NTe and MTW, what rate would i be looking at?

What have you bid up to at this point? Are you only interested in TS or would you accept any surrounding zones? (MTE, MTW)

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.

I've bid on both grand central and time square. I'm not too picky about the area but if I can't get time square then I'd hope to get it for a bit less money. I went up to 230 for 4* and nothing was accepted. I'm thinking of bidding for 3* but hoping to be around 200 per night. Do you think I am bidding too low for this time of year? Also if I waited until a week prior do you think the hotels would accept a lower bid?

These dates are quite expensive. When you say, "Grand Central", do you mean Midtown East? Have you tried Midtown West?

You have bid for 4* up to $230 in these areas - instead of dropping down to 3*, why not try 3.5?

I can't remember if Grand Central shows as midtown east. I did try midtown west. Before dropping below 4* I was wondering if you think hotels would be more open to accept a bid as the date gets closer? Just don't want to lower the star rating if I might have a better chance of getting a 4* in a couple weeks.
