MSmyth Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 Hello all.My wife and I are doing a quick jaunt up to the city to see a show next Wednesday (Lyle Lovett) and although I've used the strategies successfully here in the past, it has been a while and I feel a bit rusty.I'm looking to cover all 4* possibilities in Manhattan, including Downtown. We stayed at the Millenium last time and had no problem with the location... nice property too. We've also won the Paramount and Grand Hyatt in the past.I'm just not real confident in how to structure the bid so that all 4* zones would be the most efficiently covered with the rebid zones. I went through my notes from last time and couldn't find my printout, and going back through recent history in the forum wasn't helpful either. Sorry if this is posted prominently somewhere, I just couldn't find it. I promise to keep a copy of the strategy for next time. Thanks! We're looking forward to hitting up a couple of our favorite food places (Amici II on Mulberry, and of course Donut Plant) and maybe try a couple new ones. Anyone have a recommendation on good noodles?MikeEdit: Oops... Meant to be 11/04. Can you edit the title?

MSmyth Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 I'd like to keep it around $175, but I believe I can do better than that.I apologize for not sharing the previous successes... my bad. Sometimes we do these things spur of the moment and I forget that a sharing community is useless without the feedback.
thereuare Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I'm a little less confident than you are that $175 will be enough, but to give it a try, you have FIVE re-bid zones when bidding 4* in NYC. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* MTE, MTW, TS, UWS, ESB, CPS and Downtown...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, UWS, ESB, CPS and Downtown and re-bid zone4...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $155, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE, MTW, TS, UWS, ESB, CPS and Downtown and re-bid zone5...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. MSmyth Posted October 30, 2009 Author Report Posted October 30, 2009 You were right... no go up to and including $175... I thought that would work given what I'd read on here of other's success on dates around this one. Would $200 be a more realistic cap for this date in a 4*, or should I try 3.5 star? I don't imagine waiting till the first of the week for a possible last minute deal would help.
thereuare Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 You can certainly try $200, but i'm guessing it still likely be a stretch, but whether you decide to increase your bid or lower your rating depends upon your budget and what you typically expect from your hotel stays.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Maybe a big mistake, but I'm all for trying new things!I'll be booking for another longer trip in May, so look for my results for that trip in the future. We'll definitely be staying in Manhattan.
