k.r.y Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 Hi there, tried to bid on 4* Millenium Hilton using your PRICELINE link. Started at $120 and went all the way up to $145 using the five re-bid zones. I can only stay at the Millenium Hilton in Downtown NYC and the dates are November 4 - November 7. It's not even the weekend, so i though I could get a good price, but maybe because it's last minute, they didn't accept my price. I would prefer not to pay more than $150/night, but if you think it's too low, please let me know. I have run out re-bids for today, so will have to try again tomorrow. Any bidding strategies would be most appreciated! Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 I can only stay at the Millenium Hilton in Downtown NYC...I don't think you should use PRICELINE in this instance... how do you intend to avoid the other 4* rated hotels in the Downtown area? It's not even the weekend, so i though I could get a good price...You would likely be better off if it was the weekend. Regardless of the day of the week, I do think your bidding is likely too low. The hotel direct rate at the Millenium Hilton starts at $369/nite, so your bids are well under half of the prevailing rate. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. k.r.y Posted October 29, 2009 Author Report Posted October 29, 2009 the Millenium Hilton seems to be the only 4* available on Priceline for teh Downtown area when you are bidding. That is why I said Millenium Hilton. I don't mind staying at other Downtown hotels, as long as they are 4*.
thereuare Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 There are other 4* hotels in the zone besides the Millennium Hilton... you can see the hotels reported to the board at the 4* level in this zone in our Hotwire Hotel List.As noted above i do think you're limit is too low, but if you want to try up to $150 i would bid as follows using your FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* Downtown...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. If you are rejected with the above, let us know exactly where Downtown you need to be for this stay as i might have a slightly less convenient, but affordable, alternative. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. k.r.y Posted May 28, 2010 Author Report Posted May 28, 2010 I got desparate and went all the up to $220/night for the financial district and then started to bid on other zones.I ended up booking the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers. It was no where close to where I wanted to stay as I do prefer the Millenium Hilton / financial district (for business purposes), but I was able to get a corporate rate for $179/night. I think the Yankee's parade had something to do with hotels being sold out in New York that week!
