micha Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 :) hi, i used this website several times, but only for europe. we are planning a tour to boston and ny, we will have a car rent for all 14 days. my questions are:1. which areas to look for a hotel with parking place?2. how can i use priceline for 2 different dates (3 nights at the beginning and 2 nights at the end)?3. how can u tell which site is better - priceline or hotwire?thank's a lot for your quick answers, micha, tel-aviv, israel.
thereuare Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 1. which areas to look for a hotel with parking place? Not really sure what you're asking here, can you clarify? All hotels will offer parking (but it will likely be expensive) If you're looking for parking on the street it's almost non-existent (except perhaps on weekends). Unless you're driving to the city, or intend to leave the city, i wouldn't even bother renting a car... more of a hassle then it's worth, as the train and taxis can get you around the city pretty effectively.2. how can i use priceline for 2 different dates (3 nights at the beginning and 2 nights at the end)? What are the actual dates you need.3. how can u tell which site is better - priceline or hotwire? It depends upon what your needs are for this stay... PRICELINE is usally a little cheaper than HOTWIRE but no ability to take an educated guess as to which hotel you will likely receive; HOTWIRE usually costs a little more but let's you know the amenities that are associated with the property (so if a pool or some other amenity is imporant you can know that this will be offered), and knowing the amenities also gives you the ability to take a guess what hotel may be the one offered. For additional info regarding the similarities and differences see the I've Never Used Priceline or Hotwire thread. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.PS- please add the dates of your stay to your previous Priceline Munich thread so we can have it appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
micha Posted October 28, 2009 Author Report Posted October 28, 2009 0. i filled in the dates for munich, germany (sorry about that).1. i am looking for hotels with free parking place, iunderstand that they can't be in the center of boston, and that's ok for me. i need the car for traveling around boston, when i will go to the city center, i will park in the train station and take the train. if you know about a hotel that offers free parking, please let me know.2. 18/11/2009-21/11/2009, and again 30/11/2009-2/12/2009 (i booked flight to and from boston).3. i thought that some cities are better with priceline, and some are better with hotwire, i guess thats not true, thanks anyway.thank's micha.
thereuare Posted October 29, 2009 Report Posted October 29, 2009 I'm not sure how far out you'll have to go for free parking, but i'd look at the "Bostn Metro-West" zones such as Needham, Dedham, Braintree, etc. However, keep in mind that some hotels in an 'outlying' area such as this may charge, other may not, and with PRICELINE you can't decide which you will get... so HOTWIRE may be a consideration since it may cost you more in room rate, but if you can target a hotel with free parking it may be worthwhile vs. a lower hotel rate at a hotel that charges parking. Please use separate threads for each leg of your stay since a different hotel may be won for each, as well as different strategy if room rates are significantly different for each leg of your stay.HOTWIRE can be better in some cities where there is a hotel you're trying to target/avoid or if there are certain amenities that you're specifically looking for.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
