The Grok Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Please help identify this hotel in Boca Raton. Dates 11/1/09-11/08/09, Trip advisor 3.5 / 5This hotel features the following amenities:Resort Near Beach Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby This seems to me like it could be the boca beach club or the boca resort (same property, different proximity to the beach) but I don't see it on the list of hotels. Thanks

thereuare Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Unfortunately this property has not yet been reported to the board. If i were to take a guess i'd include the Boca Raton Resort (The Waldorf Astoria Collection) among the possible candidates. If you are interested in this offering you could see if this property appears for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purhcase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain' and determine the name of the hotel. If you're happy with the results proceed to purchase the remaining nites of your trip... if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of furhter help. The Grok Posted October 27, 2009 Author Report Posted October 27, 2009 Choosing between this place and a place in BocaDates are: 11/01/2009-11/08/2209 $109, 1Room, 2 Adults 0 ChildrenAmenities:BeachfrontBusiness Center Children's Activity Program Fitness High-speed Internet Access Pool(s) Resort Restaurant(s) Spa Services Tennis Nearby I am hoping for the Don Cesar, but not sure if this could be the Tradewinds Island Grand as I don't see Laundry & Golf. Any ideas? I only ask because the Tradewinds is listed as Resort only under vacation packages. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 My guess is that this is most likely the Tradewinds. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.

The Grok Posted October 28, 2009 Author Report Posted October 28, 2009 Thanks, I'll merge them from now on. I am making my decision very soon so I will update. I am almost certain this is the boca resort. The only thing is that there are two properties the Boca Resort and the Boca Beach club which are close to each other. I am wondering what experience people have with the the amenity that says Near Beach. This states that the property is located an easy walking distance from the beach. In your experience, does this mean 5 minutes 10 minutes? This would help me to narrow it down. I called HOTWIRE and they did not really give me an answer. when I booked earlier this year at the Crowne Plaze Hollywood Beach, the hotel was accross the street from the beach and it took less than 5 minutes to walk there. Thanks for all the help.
The Grok Posted October 28, 2009 Author Report Posted October 28, 2009 Bit the bullet and booked using the HOTWIRE link and got the Boca Raton Resort for 99$ per night for 11/1/09-11/7/09
thereuare Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and that you're happy with the results.I don't think the "Near Beach" can be defined with words necessarily, but more so what is reasonble... a 10 minute walk would likely be considered reasonable... a 30 minute walk would not, imo.Thank you for using our HOTWIRE link ot begin your purchase and for sharing your results with the board, helping us add this property to the Hotwire Hotel List for this area.Enjoy your stay. The Grok Posted October 28, 2009 Author Report Posted October 28, 2009 Called the hotel and it is about a 10 minute walk to the beach.
The Grok Posted October 29, 2009 Author Report Posted October 29, 2009 Called the hotel and it is about a 10 minute walk to the beach.Called the hotel again to make sure I got a non-smoking room and it turns out this property is huge. I found I am in a room that is 10-12 minute walk from the main part of the resort, and that the main resort is a 20 minute walk from the beach. So in total the place is a 32 minute walk to the beach. They do offer a shuttle which is 15 minute ride to the beach. This to me does not qualify as an "Easy Walk to the beach". Anyone with experice with hotwire can offer me some advice as to what to do. The reosrt does also have a building on the beach, any chance if I call Hotwire they can call the hotel and pull some strings to get me moved there? I feel like I have been duped. The resort apparently is very nice, so I have no problem staying there.
thereuare Posted October 30, 2009 Report Posted October 30, 2009 I'd venture that your room is not a 10+ minute walk to the main part of the hotel, as that would be over half a mile and that doesn't seem likely. I'd research this a bit more and find out exactly how far it really is and then make a decision what you'd like... either you feel you've been 'duped' and should contact HOTWIRE explaining the situation and that the hotel is not what you consider to be "near beach" OR the hotel is nice, a good value for your what you paid, and you're willing to accept the accomodations for the price paid.
