ramsfan Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Hi, a friend told me about your forum, what a great service!I used the BB link to PRICELINE, and selected 4-star North Strip Vicinity.I bid $70 per night, for three nights starting 12/3/2009, two rooms. It did not work, and I was offered $125 a night as a come-back offer.I am willing to go higher, but want to make sure I land in one of these hotels (Mirage, TI, or Wynn, Venetian, Ceasars) trump is kind of a bad hotel for what we want (location)....Any advice on where to go from here? I assume Mirage or TI are our best bets. Are there any other 4* North Strip that we may not want? What if we go 4* Central Strip, are those all good on strip properties like Paris, etc...?
thereuare Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! When you select a star rating on PRICELINE it is the minimum you are willing to accep, and PRICELINE can upgrade you to a higher rated star level. Given the low prices that are often available at the Trump, i think you're taking a risk to do any PRICELINE bidding if you're not willing to accept the Trump.HOTWIRE may be a better option since you could choose a hotel with a Casino icon; since the Trump doesn't have a casino, you could purchase such a hotel and be assured you won't receive the Trump.HOTWIRE usually costs a little more than PRICELINE, but it will help you target/avoid a specific property, and increase the chances of getting what you're looking for.If you do a HOTWIRE search for your dates is there anything offered on the Strip (with a casino icon) and within your budget and star rating preference? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ramsfan Posted October 27, 2009 Author Report Posted October 27, 2009 Did this, and landed $119 per night at Planet Hollywood. I noticed it was a 4-star in Central Strip. There are other hotels that are Central Strip, and the amenities matched what you have in your sticky link (which can also be the same as Paris). The TripAdvisor rating on Hotwire was 3.5 Stars, which I went to TripAdvisor, and noticed Paris was 4 star, Planet Hollywood was 3.5 stars, so I had a high degree of confidence that I would get PH.Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and are happy with the results. Can you please add a reply to this thread with the amenities shown before your purchase... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay... and good luck in Vegas.
