allybunnie Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Hi - looking for a bidding strategy for Mystic CT for this Wednesday 10/28 - 10/31/09 - here is what I have researched so far... my husband and i each have a PRICELINE account so we can each try to bid.Want to stay in at least the 3* level - I also do NOT want to end up with the Radisson (Niantic/norwich/mystic - new london) on the reported possible hotel win list on your website) - it looks to me if I want to avoid this I only have 2 "free rebid zones" to work with??That being said it seems as though there are only 2 possible wins @ the 3* level in Mystic - Hilton Mystic & Hyatt Place Mystic - I realize there could be a possible unreported hotel win in Mystic, but I guess that is the risk of it all!!Direct AAA pricing for both hotels on their websites are as follows:Hilton Mystic - 87.00 p/n for 2 dbl beds or 127.00 p/n for bed assigned @ check in or king bed.....Hyatt Place Mystic - 125.00 p/n.....when I go onto PRICELINE to pull up Mystic area, it also does the "price chop" pricing for some other hotels in Mystic, but they are listed in the part where you see what you are buying, which I assume is different than the room inventory for the name your own price section....but just for info in case you need to know the Hampton Inn suites Mystic is listed there - I pulled their direct AAA web-site pricing up & got 95.00 p/n for 2 queensso here is the $$$ amounts lowdown - I can book a 3.5** Bellissimo Grande In North Stonington CT which is acceptable to us cuz it is very close to what we are looking to do in the area thru Expedia or outright thru their website for an avg daily rate of $73.00 p/n & it has good reviews, so is it possible based on what I have told you to "win" on priceline for less than that like in the $50.00 range, or am I looking at a waste of time even trying to do a priceline win with the reasonable $73.00 rate they offer??any thoughts or a low ball$$ bidding strategy you can offer will be great - Thanx!!
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I do think you have a chance to win at $50 or less (and perhaps a better chance at $60 or less) but we can try a maximum bid of $50 first. It appears you want to bid the Ledyard (Mashantucket)-Mystic zone and you are correct, at the 3* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3* Ledyard-Mystic...Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $40, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3* Ledyard-Mystic and re-bid zone2...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $50Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. allybunnie Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 Thanx for the response - just to clarify - if I follow the same strategy you have given me, I shouldnt end up with the radisson - new london as long as I DONT use this zone as a rebid zone - when I looked this am it showed I did have the 2 rebid zones if I did not include the new london zone....also hotwire shows a 3* Mystic hotel for 69.00 p/n for same time frame - amenities are non smoking, comp bfast, fitness ctr, pool, business ctr, high speed internet access....would you agree this matches the Hyatt Place Mystic??
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 The Radisson New London is at 35 Governor Winthrop Boulevard, New London, CT 06320, which is located in PRICELINE's New London zone. So you shouldn't win this hotel if you don't include this zone in your bidding... but you shouldn't be using this zone as a re-bid zone anyway since it does include 3* hotels and that is the star rating you're bidding (re-bid zones are zones which only contain star ratings less than the star rating you want)If you have any questions regarding the above feel free to ask.Yes, best guess for the 3* HOTWIRE property is the Hyatt Place. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
