johnsfrj Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Hello, I am new to the board and have just read many posts. I find this site to be incredibly educational. I have a question about late checkout. Do most, if not all 4 star's in New Orleans, downtown have late checkout as an option? This is a concern of mine that I feel I must address before booking. Thanks!fj
thereuare Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Regardless of how you book i don't think you'll be able to guarantee late check-out as it will be based upon hotel occupancy levels on your particular date of check-out, how many new guests are arriving the day you leave, as well as the general mood of the front desk clerk. How late of a check-out are you seeking? What are the date(s) of your stay? Do you need to use the room on the day of check-out or simply need a place t keep your things? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. johnsfrj Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 Thereuare, Thanks for the follow up. I was hoping for a noon to 1 pm checkout time. I plan to be in New Orleans the 27th and leaving the 28th of Feb 2010. I am signed up for a marathon and needed a place to take a shower after the event. The past event in NO I stayed at the Holiday Inn Superdome. They allowed late checkout which worked out perfect. Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 What would be your budget per night? We could compare HOTWIRE (or potential PRICELINE) rates versus what's available regular rate.In terms of HOTWIRE or PRICELINE, you could certainly plead your case and the hotel may be willing to work with you, but unfortunately there's no way to ensure late check-out.
johnsfrj Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 125 per night was the HOTWIRE proposal. That seems to be a good price to work from. A little more would also be ok.
thereuare Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 What would be your budget per night? We could compare HOTWIRE (or potential PRICELINE) rates versus what's available regular rate. What is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional (non-opaque) booking channels? If you need to guarantee a late check-out, i think the only want to do it would be to arrange with the htoel beforehand, which would require a hotel direct purchase. If you let us know the best 'regular rate' you can find we can then compare that to booking two nites via PRICELINE or HOTWIRE... or could you accept the risk the hotel won't be able to accomodate your late check-out needs? Also, even if the hotel isn't willing to give a complimentary late check-out, there is a good chance they will do so for an additional fee ($30-$50 i'm guessing) which we can then factor into teh equation as well (although this wouldn't be guaranteed, but i would think most hotels would take the additional fee and simply put your room at the end of the list to be cleaned and turned over for the next guests... so a lesser risk if you win a hotel low enough so that an additional fee still makes it worthwhile, but still not 100% guaranteed)125 per night was the HOTWIRE proposal.... A little more would also be ok.What would be the point of paying more than the HOTWIRE rate??Based upon the above let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. johnsfrj Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 What would be the point of paying more than the HOTWIRE rate??I can book a room direct with a lesser hotel in the same area that has a late checkout option for not a lot more $$. Not a huge deal. I like to save money like everyone else and a nicer hotel would be a bonus. Late checkout is needed in my case. With Priceline, is the likelihood better that I could book with a hotel that has late checkout as an option? Thanks for your efforts!FJ
AaronJB Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Getting a late checkout on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE is not likely - it would not be more likely when using one or the other. While it's not outside of the range of possibility that you could work something out with the hotel, there's no way to guarantee it when using either.
johnsfrj Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 What hotel would this most likely be? 4 star on hotwire Feb 27th - one night New Orleans Downtown Price - $95Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The above is a match for the Sheraton so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you ultimately decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
johnsfrj Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 Here is one more. Same place and date withComplimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Price is a little more.....$116Thanks!
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 What is the star rating of the property above? (and please confirm that it's the Downtown zone)How have you resovled to handle the 'late check-out' situation? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. johnsfrj Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 It is a 4 Star downtown New Orleans.I have not yet resolved the late checkout issue. I may just take a chance and deal with it. I read where Inter Continental has a "late check out" option. Hoping the features match up! Thanks for hanging with me on this one.FJ
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 I don't think it's a 4* hotel as they infrequently offer Complimentary Breakfast... please go back to HOTWIRE and confirm the star rating of this property. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
johnsfrj Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 Interesting to note......there is no longer a listing for a 4* in NO on that date for that amount (or any star for that amount). That is interesting to say the least. The next one I would consider for the same date is a 4.5 star in Downtown NO $144 nightFitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access What would be your best guess on this one?
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 This would be a match for the Le Pavillon so that would be my best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
