enthusiast Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 Please help a newbie out here - I've read through so many threads and I just need to book soon. So I am trying for La Concha but so far looking for 4* SJ from Oct 30-Nov 3 just turns up beachfront casino, which I believe to be intercontinental for 113. Trying for Nov 29-Nov 3 gets me what might be La Concha for a great price of $99/ night with a 4.0/5.0 on trip advisor with amenities of near beach, oceanfront, casino fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spa.Trying for Oct 30-Nov 2nd also gets the same amenities at a rate of $114/night. So my first question is whether both are La Concha?I also tried to see what I could get just for one night on the 2nd and it turns up 107/night for a boutique hotel, smokefree rooms, fitness center, business center, high speed internet with a 4.5/5.0 tripadvisor. I'm guessing this is Water Club, which would be ok for a night, but ideally we could just be at the same hotel without moving. Thanks for the help and I will book through the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links.
thereuare Posted October 20, 2009 Report Posted October 20, 2009 I think the property you're seeing with:near beach, oceanfront, casino fitness, pool, restaurant, business center, laundry, golf nearby, tennis nearby, spais NOT the La Concha but rather the Conrad Condado Plaza and that would be my best guess for this one. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. enthusiast Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 Thanks for the ID help. I think I should have bought it last night as now the only hotel showing is El Caribe for 109 (I finally understood how to match amenities to hotels - beach, pool rest, biz center, tennis, spa), and based on the reviews at Trip Advisor, it's the only one I don't want. How frequently does hotwire change the hotels that they offer?
thereuare Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone (the least expensive hotel is the one offered)So for a new hotel do appear you'd need:- the current hotel to sell, pull, or increase the price of their current inventory- a new hotel at the same star level to offer a price lower than the current offeringPlease use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.PS- please read your messages Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
enthusiast Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 Decided to go with PRICELINE for the 4 day stay. Used re-bid zones and started bidding on resorts at 75, 80, 87, 92, 100 (added 4 stars at this point.) Won the InterContinental for $100/night. Used BB PRICELINE links. Thanks for all the help.
thereuare Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you're happy with the results and hopefully this works well for your plans. While none of the hotels in San Juan "wow" me, this is one of the better ones with a great beachfront location.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
