bond316
Do you think its possible to get a minimum 2.5* room in NYC for $70/night (NOT Brooklyn and would like to avoid UWS)? Thanks in advance. Link to comment

bond316
What is a more realistic rate? Link to comment
AaronJB
If you are willing to accept any of the Midtown zones, I'm guessing a more realistic rate is probably going to be $100-125, possibly a bit higher. Link to comment
underdunk
Sorry to hijack but didn't feel the need to start a new thread as I'm also interested in this weekend (30-1st). I'm willing to stay anywhere on the island south of Central Park, or even Jersey City. Any suggestions for the best value bidding strategy for a 2.5 or 3*? Probably spending most of my time in SoHo and East Village but don't mind taking the subway. Link to comment

underdunk
My apologies. I've started my own topic in the NJ forum. And just to be on topic here, I'm going to have to say the OPs chances are slim at that price. Link to comment
bond316
Are you saying $100-125 after tax and everything or before?Do you think its $70 is realistic in the Lond Island City area? Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
bond316,Rather than randomly throw around numbers, why not find your best available rate thru traditional booking channels, both in Manhattan and in the outlying areas, then based your maximum bid for each based upon a discount to your best deal you're able to find outside of the opaque providers? If on the otherhand your capped at a $70 budget, then start the bidding process for your acceptable zones and see if you're able to get an acceptance. As i mentioned above...You can/should try... but i doubt it.... maybe you get lucky and win a hotel that happened to put in a rate that was lower than it should be for this nite. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
