Hotwire Hotel: 4* Chicago (Magnificent Mile-Streeterville) Hyatt Regency

I'm looking at 4* hotels in Chicago Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville and am trying to narrow it down. All but one are listed as "Customer Favorite". If the hotel I'm looking at isn't shown to be a customer favorite (where does it say this?), does that mean it's likely to be the remaining one?

Thanks,

Customer Favorite shouldn't be as a promary basis to to identify a hotel as this designation can come and go.

What are the details (dates, zone, star rating, price, and amenities) associated with the property you're being offered?

The hotel is $86, and has Fitness, Restaurant, Business and Internet with no trip advisor or customer favourite.

Which one do you think it is? Hard Rock, Hyatt, Sheraton, Swissotel or Westin River North?

Also, what does "same as Hyatt and Sheraton and Westin River North and Inter-Continental" mean? Are they all the same hotel?

Cheers,

This could be the Hard Rock, Hyatt, Sheraton, Westin River North or the Swiss - although I don't remember when the Swiss last showed with this amenity set.

Without a tripadvisor rating, there's no way to narrow.

So there's absolutely nothing I can do to narrow it down? It's just a gamble?

Does the price give any hints?

It's a gamble, but that is a trade-off (as is the discounted rate) for opaque purchases like on PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. Not really a "bad" option here; while I don't particularly like the Sheraton, it's not a bad hotel as much as a very average one. The price is not an indicator as to which hotel this may be.

Thanks - I guess I'll just go for it then - better than a $100 motel.

Couple more questions:

1) Do the amenities cycle or are they completely fixed now?

2) Is it possible to clear cookies or change IP to get a tripadvisor rating?

I'll come and report back what I get.

1) Amenities are almost always fixed for a particular listing, but there is the chance that another hotel may show up in the place of this one between now and your trip - but there is no way to know.

2) No, tripadvisor ratings are random - they show up with some listings and not others.

The Hyatt does show up in the 4* Mag Mile/Streeterville spot when one searches for 2 adults/2 children, so the 2 adults search may be showing the Hyatt under the alternate amenity set for that property. No way to know for sure, but given that, a guess is that you could be seeing the Hyatt when you search for 2 adults.

Not that likely. What are you looking for - are you trying for a specific hotel or are you interested in a broader area?

Was really hoping for the Hard Rock if at all possible for about $100 incl. taxes and we want to be in that area too.

Unfortunately, there's no way to guarantee a particular hotel on either service and the Hard Rock doesn't show up particularly often. If you do not mind being anywhere in the River North/North Michigan Ave area, I'd rather suggest trying to bid $85 for a 4* in the River North/NMA area. With the exception of the Sheraton (which is just very average), I don't think there's a bad hotel in the 4* category in the River North/NMA area.

The Hard Rock is in the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area on PRICELINE, but I think the issue with bidding for a 4* in that zone is that you would be more likely to get the Hyatt or Palmer.

Hi again,

Looking at a 3* with no tripadvisor with the above details. It has fitness business internet.

I think this makes it Holiday Inn Express Hotel Cass or maybe Inn of Chicago. That sound right? We're just trying to find out if we can narrow the location down.

3* = more likely Inn of Chicago, I'd say.

Please keep all posts regarding this trip in the same thread.

Again, I'd rather suggest bidding $85 for a 4* in the River North/NMA area. The Doubletree isn't bad at all, but if you want to roll the dice, there are a lot of nice 4* possibilities in the NMA area.
