majorgator Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 Background:Booked the Milford Plaza for $125 per night through Expedia a few months ago. Turns out, they will be closed for renovations during my time there. They say that they're making accommodation for their guests at a nearby hotel(s) with the same standards, if not better. Since 2-star hotels in NYC can be a gamble, I'm sure you can understand my fear. I call once a week, yet they still don't have an answer to which hotel(s) they'll be using.Currently:I've been reading this forum quite a bit, and am now fully aware that I probably paid too much even then for the Milford Plaza. Over the past few days, I've used the PRICELINE links offered here, as well as the bidding strategy, with no success. I'm still aiming high (4-star for $120 - $130), but I'm seeing a few other people who are getting these deals, namely at the Grand Hyatt in MTE.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!Again - 4-star, $130 max base price???
thereuare Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 I think $130 for a 4* hotel may be a bit difficult for this stay, but you could probably get somthing at a lower star rating within your budget. If your budget is firm i think i have found what i believe to be the Best Western Hospitality House available for $109/nite which gets very good reviews and includes breakfast.Would this be of interest? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. majorgator Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 Well, I'm approaching the process fully aware that I have a decent enough hotel already booked, so I just figured why not try to do a little better. The $130 a night will be tough, but I thought I may get lucky. On the other hand, the BW Hospitality House you mention for $109 would actually be perfect, as best I can tell. What more can you tell me about getting that incredible rate? As far as I can tell, its in the Midtown East area? Thanks in advance! This forum is extremely helpful!
