tyagel Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 Im looking for a hotel in South Beach from the 20th to 23rd January 2005.I really like the location where I normally stay, the South Seas Hotel. The price will be $259 for quad occupancy.Im not exactly sure what I should consider bidding and what the chancesof getting 4 people in a room for any hotel I might win, but I thoughtI would post and ask for your advice for bidding in South Beach at thistime. Thanks,Thomas
thereuare Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 I don't think i would chance quad occupancy in South Beach... my one stay there the room was a typical, small city, room and would not have been comfortable for 4 people. However, thru Priceline i think you have a chance at getting 2 rooms for less than your cost of one! (which would be much more comfortable and give you an extra bathroom/shower which makes getting ready to go out quite a bit easier).Let us know if this is an option you'd like to try and we'll suggest a detailed strategy to follow. tyagel Posted December 14, 2004 Author Report Posted December 14, 2004 Its definately an option. Thanks
thereuare Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 These don't sound as nice as the South Seas, but for $50-$100/nite they may be worth a shot (and you sounds like a frequent South Beach traveler, so you may be better able to guage the worth of these):Quad Occupancy Rates:Avalon @ $179/niteDoubletree Surfcomer @ $209/niteIf you'd like to try Priceline for two rooms, i would bid as follows (i stopped at $125/nite in order to stay close to $259 divided by 2... plus account for Priceline's fee, which will likely put you a little over the $259/nite rate). You have 9 re-bids at the Resort level and 5 re-bids at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-biddng please read PRICELINE REBIDDING EXPLAINED and ask any questions that you may have and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board to make sure you have them correct.Select Resort and South Beach...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $125.If rejected close that browser and re-access Priceline however you did previously.Select 4* and South Beach...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $125.Any questions feel free to ask. As you get into the higher bid amounts double check the total cost in order to make sure the net cost will be comparable to the South Seas (don't forget that the Priceline total cost will include taxes while i don't think the South Seas rate includes taxes).Let us know what you decide to do, and if you try any of the above, update us as to your success/failure.Good Luck. thereuare Posted December 14, 2004 Report Posted December 14, 2004 If your best bet is still the South Seas i found it HERE for an average of $223/nite with quad occupancy (please use this link if you end up booking here) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
tyagel Posted January 8, 2005 Author Report Posted January 8, 2005 Ran bids for resort class in South Beach: 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160all failed :). On hotwire it appeared that the 4.5*, probably loews -- beachfront restaurant pool fitness, was at a rate of ~$360. So I guess my bids were just too low. There is a 4* on hotwire near beach, boutique, with restaurant listed on hotwire for 149 but im not sure which hotel that would be.Thanks for you help.
thereuare Posted January 10, 2005 Report Posted January 10, 2005 So what is your current gameplan? Do you still have a back-up reservation? Are you leaning towards the South Seas?I'm not sure if you're still looking for two rooms, have raised your maximum bid, or what amount it is you're currently trying to beat? tyagel Posted January 14, 2005 Author Report Posted January 14, 2005 160 felt like as high as I should go bidding on a hotel that might only allow double occupancy ... or might charge a whole lot more for quad. There seemed to be too many 4* hotel possibilities to take the risk of bidding in that category. So we got two room at the south seas and used the quikbook prices as reference to get lowest possible price from hotel directly. Thanks for you help! Ill definately try bidding in the future. Actually might be looking for NYC rooms sometime this spring.
