Priceline Hotel: Help w/ 2 win bid *4 Venice

Hoping 2 win bid @ * 4 in Venice for July 28/2010...Nh Manin??

any suggestions??..am i just bidding way 2 early???

Tried $80 and so far worked my way up to $120....with no winning bid :)

Am i being unrealistic @ that price?

Not sure how busy venice would be in July..lol..but i know it's a starting/finishing port for alot of cruise ships...

Wanted something that was close 2 all the sights...being a bonus/on the canal...and air conditioning is a must 4 that time of yr..lol

Any suggestions appreciated :)

If you enter "venice" in the QUICK SEARCH box at the top of the page you'll see all threads pertaining to that area. Scrolling thru the reported wins, most results for 4* and higher hotels last summer were for a bit more than $120. As well, last summer the economic crisis was a bit more uncertainly that it current is, so prices for next summer may be a bit higher than last year, given the economic confidence appears to have stopped falling and is on the upward swing.

Next summer is a long way off and nobody can say if prices will come down, or go up, from here, but my guess is that at the moment you're probably a bit too low.

If you look at HOTWIRE there is a 4* hotel in Venice for ~$110/nite (your price may differ slightly), but this property has not yet been identified, and given that priceline and hotwire use their own star rating systems, this could be equivalent to a 3* (or could be the same 4* rating) on PRICELINE. However, this property does show a Tripadvisor user review rating of 4.0/5.0, which is pretty good, imo.
